Loved how Bobby McFerrin served as the host and narrator for this special, but also appeared as the Wizard himself.

Haha same - although the Dorothy in the production I saw in Cleveland had a bad wig - indeed brunette, but bad 😆
@thespiritofozАй бұрын
@@KyleMUC All the touring Dorothy's wore wigs to emulate Judy's hair in the film, whereas the TV special allowed Oksana to keep her natural blonde. This was likely an attempt to keep her recognizable - or perhaps she just didn't like the idea of skating with a wig on!

Really lovely troupe and wonderful to see the movie being represented with such love. But what would really skyrocket this group to the next level is polish for the performance itself. There are sloppy cut offs in the singing, which would be really easy to solve and just make the whole performance feel so much tighter. The choreography…even though this isn’t dance, the movement would still benefit from more specifics and polish.

Thank you for the kind words and the constructive feedback. This video is about nearly five years old. Since this video was recorded, we have made several improvements to the troupe including the enlistment of a vocal director to lead rehearsals and a conductor to help solidify cues and cutoffs.

It seemed like there were a lot of ice skating specials back in the 90’s. I don’t even know what exactly made skating so hip and trendy back then, maybe it was the fact that so many young people like Oksana Baiul and Michelle Kwan did it that made it cool

Because back then I think in the early days even in the mid-90s women's figure skating was still all about grace and beauty and not the the jumping Bonanza contest that is the day it's all about the jumps these days not the artistry I feel.😢

Wow it’s a superb show, Dorothy is blonde but it’s better that some girl in a detectable wig as theatre would do even if the actor is brunette their hair teams can’t braid actual hair when most teenagers have done it for decades
@thespiritofoz9 ай бұрын
The original touring production did have Dorothy in a wig. For the TV special they opted not to wig Oksana Baiul, likely to retain recognizability. At any rate, wigs are often used in theatre not for lack of ability on the part of the hair team but for consistency, to limit time in the makeup chair, and ease in transitions between styles - not to mention applying excessive amounts of heat and styling product for weeks, months, or years on end can really take its toll on an actor's hair!

It’s incredible the corners of the internet you manage to get to with your wig wearing antics. How your family have not banned you from the internet given the amount of complaints they’ve received about your behaviour is beyond me.
@dsmproductionsofficial1319 ай бұрын
@@thespiritofoz honestly I’ve seen it done where a actress has brown hair and she braids her hair, I wouldn’t make excuses as I doubt anyone enjoys wearing those low budget detectable party wigs that theatres will mass use and it makes a very fake looking character, if you have to spend 2 hours being transformed then that’s the magic of acting, to age hair damage why cast straight haired people as characters with curls and vice versa
