They offer a very good product. This was actually an equipment change as we were originally booked on a 737-900 then a MAX 8 but an A321 showed up 😊. Thanks for watching.

Appreciate you watching. Can’t fault the “old skool” service at all! Passengers AND Crew seemed happier with a proper meal and drink service even on a relatively short flight. I flew back to Heathrow on their 777 so watch out for that video 😊

I'm interested in knowing much traffic there is on this route: how busy was the flight, is it the only direct Glasgow - Toronto service, and does it fly daily?

👋 thanks for watching. i believe service is up to daily in summer and 1-2 x weekly in winter. Sadly other than TUI our only Transatlantic service at Glasgow. Both my flights were extremely busy, we only had 6 open seats on way out and completely full on the way back so demand seems to be there. I recommend Air Transat if price right.

I'd have absolutely no problem crossing the Atlantic on a narrowbody aircraft, especially an A321LR with wider seats and a newer cabin. I am however shocked at how basic the inflight service is on Air Transat on what is scheduled to be a 7hour 35minute flight. For that reason I'd choose to fly with Air Canada from Edinburgh where I can also earn Star Alliance miles.

It was basic but tbh it was more than enough and crew were so engaging they made best of what they have to offer. I honestly would recommend if price was right. Thanks as always for watching!

It is indeed! My friend was on this particular flight to Frankfurt then Munich to fly LH A380 to JFK! Hopefully get an A380 experience in the future ✈️

Great footage. I also flew GLA-SOU and SOU-GLA in September with easyJet. Outbound flight was early and efficient. I found the return flight disappointing... whilst Southampton Airport is small and the security check was fine, it seemed to struggle to handle an easyJet A320. Very little seating in the departure lounge and there was a very strange boarding system where they used one desk to check boarding passes and IDs then opened four more doors to let passengers on to the tarmac. The flight was late. How did easyJet handle offloading 4 passengers? Did they ask for volunteers by offering denied boarding compensation or did they deny boarding to the last 4 passengers who checked in?

Southampton is a great little airport and so accessible with the train station such a short walk but agree fully with you I wouldn’t like to see it try handle two or three easyJet flights at once! I mean I guess they have a bit more seating upstairs in cafe and bar but in terms of general seating it was very poor and a very bizarre boarding process. The weird boarding process is perhaps why we were not one of the unlucky 4! We only managed to get a seat once the Edinburgh flight on Loganair boarded so we were sat in that gate. Then they decided to board everyone through that gate not the one intended, the gate agent came over to the 6 or 7 of us to check our ID and took our passes away to scan rather than send us to the back of the queue now forming. The other agent then opened the doors and asked if we had had speedy boarding which were not and did tell her this but she said it was fine so we were actually first on! As it turned out I believe they simply offloaded the last 4 in the queue but I’m not totally sure on that but it took a long time to find their bags in hold. It’s was a shakey breezy rapid take off which maybe doesn’t translate in video but I think it’s clear that Southampton is certainly near the limits with A320 size aircraft and doesn’t take too much for disruption. What’s more unfortunate is that the Edinburgh loganair flight left at same time and had plenty seats, they could have easily got 4 or 6 people with hand luggage onto that quickly and taxied them back to Glasgow. In fairness I think the captain made the decision pretty last minute as the winds got worse so can’t argue with safety first.

Great experience, it was actually a trip for my own 40th and crew was very engaging, asked why we had gone to NYC, when she heard it was my birthday I was given the card with a couple of glasses of champagne. Was such a nice gesture. Yes they absolutely had options if memory served it was something very light or a full cooked breakfast as well. I have sweet tooth so waffle was a must for me 😊. The A330-300 on way out had seen better days but virgin cabin crew really do make the “brand” pity more airlines don’t still value their crews as they do make a difference to experience.

Really like the footage of your aircraft turning on to stand in GLA. It's just as well GLA is a very quiet airport and could block off several stands to accommodate the EK A380 diversion! I doubt many airports could have facilitated this. Hope you managed to run through LHR and reclear security to make your onward connection. Thanks for uploading this video.

Thanks for checking it out. I did book premium, got an exceptional deal as a package with Expedia, however I would be reluctant to book via Expedia again even with the great pricing they often have with VS as the flight had several schedule changes as it was booked so far in advance and every change was an absolute ordeal from them rebooking wrong flights to even the wrong class, the staff were so poorly trained at reissue of tickets. Some calls were 90 mins plus to resolve and endless online chats. The TWA Hotel was an avgeek bucket list item! 😊

Great trip report as always. Flying into and out of LCY is always so convenient and in my opinion BA Cityflyer outshine BA mainline in terms of comfort, onboard service and crew friendliness. I actually know Ollie who was the CSM on your flight, he's a great guy!

Nice trip report! Looks like it's worth paying £59 for lounge access, a free middle seat and decent on board catering and service. Although I can remember that 30 years ago a meal like that would have been served in Lufthansa economy class on a flight of this length!

Absolutely worth it especially given we had flown from Vienna early that morning spent day in Frankfurt and was wonderful to spend some time, rest and even shower in lounge before last leg back to Glasgow. Agreed in two minds also they have started this route and it was virtually full! Time will tell when it goes daily who blinks first. Would be a blow to LM but unfortunately as times for me were spot on and more than half the price of LM so couldn’t resist. Maybe T3 can come back on IOM and start flights from Wick to central belt, two minds about how that would work and carrier though! Thanks again for watching, EasyJet did a great job on this one. ✈️

Glad to see that easyJet got you to Southampton safely in bad weather despite the delay. It was a nice touch that they offered complimentary drinks on board as a way of making up for the inconvenience. I'm in two minds about EZY flying between GLA and SOU. There is definitely a lot of demand for this route and their fares are usually less than Loganair. However if they force Loganair off the route with then the business friendly schedule will be lost and the route could be served by easyJet once a day at random timings. I'm afraid I don't think GLA-IOM would be a viable route on an A319 twice a week. Too much capacity and not enough demand. Loganair struggled to make the route work on a Saab 340 and if I remember correctly they stared that more passengers wish to fly between IOM and EDI than GLA. Thanks for sharing your experiences of flying on this route.

Nice video. In my opinion BA Cityflyer have got the service just right on this route with a complimentary drink and snack. I love their E190s and always try to get seat 2D if I can as the legroom is amazing. I've snagged it a few times from GLA to LCY and also on a charter flight from GLA to SZG operated on behalf of TUI. It will be interesting to see how the passenger comfort will be affected when BA Cityflyer reconfigure their aircraft this year with 8 additional seats.

Totally agree the comfort and service level are spot on. I’ve enjoyed 2D ALC & PMI to GLA on a TUI charter. Phenomenal leg room. I wish EGPF could attract even a part time or seasonal base from Cityflyer. It will be interesting to see if they go BOB service with additional seats and extra cabin crew. Still great little aircraft and config especially if travelling as a pair.

Yep totally agree didn’t feel its age at all, great service, very experienced crew and that really showed when we hit the worst of the turbulence, they were very attentive to the most nervous passengers. ✈️

Nice video. Even though the aircraft is old, it looked clean, comfortable and well maintained inside the cabin. I always find the service on Austrian is excellent and in my opinion they are the best Lufthansa group carrier. Hope you enjoyed your flight.

@@JettTyler17 that’s what I did in reverse, flew GLA-SOU (excellent little airport I thought) on easyjet and then back with Ryanair from BOH to EDI. Got caught in the Glasgow Airport snow closure so will upload that flight soon. ✈️
