Loved this series! Very curious about your experience with word of mouth vs online search and if offering referral discounts makes sense.
@VanessaValienteАй бұрын
I am so glad you enjoyed it! Online searches produce FAR MORE clientele than word of mouth clients, and word of mouth clients can often feel entitled to your service since they can feel like they already know you. New or "too nice" stylists often haven't made clear boundaries with their clients and their service yet, so it's something to keep in mind. With that said, now that I have been in business for 15+ years and I have very clear boundaries, word of mouth has produced some of my favorite clients. In short, word of mouth takes time to produce results, whereas online search gives you clients right away. On average, there are 6,600 searches for "personal stylist" in America each month. Word of mouth is like snail mail. It will get there, but it takes a long while. And, yes! Referral discounts absolutely make sense if you need clients. But once you are consistently booking out 2-4 weeks in advance, stop the discounts.

@@VanessaValiente Thank you so much for taking the time to write a such a detailed answer, I really appreciate it! I'm already booking 8-10 weeks in advance and have a very hard time regulating offer and demand. I saw that the stylist you recommended (Andie Sobrato?) offers an option of priority booking for an additional fee and it's something I'm considering at the moment. Once the business is going well it's not easy managing availability and it was interesting to hear about your fine range of "2 months in advance" vs 6.

Naturally big busted petite vs surgeon given big busted petite are 2 entirely different creatures. Lets be real. Pun intended.

Breast placement is unique to all women. The key to dressing a large bust is exposing enough decolletage skin to create a long line. For those concerned with too much cleavage. I generally recommend keeping it to an inch of exposure. Hope that helps!

I've been I cup and would never wear tops that show more than just a hint of cleavage. For me, it makes me feel trashy and honestly I don't want to see other women's breasts in my face either. You can still get the V or U effect by wearing a nude (or other color) tank type top underneath.

I thought the first dress the stylist hated looked fabulous on her, and the low cut dress she liked showed way too much cleavage. I stopped watching after that.

I have a naturally fuller bust, too, but I never, ever show cleavage. It just brings extra attention there, especially men staring. I agree that more open, vertical necklines are much more flattering, though. It’s a challenge for us petites to find open, but modest necklines, most are just way too low-cut for our shorter torsos. I look for modest V-necks/U-necks, square necks and slot necks. Polo tops are also great, they can open deeply, but are modest because of the two side plackets that give some coverage. I also love the classic collars on them, they bring eyes up to the face and take it off the bustline. Aging does reduce the bust fullness somewhat. Now 4, I’m now wearing a D cup at last, after wearing E/DD most of my life, so I’m more in the average range(C/D), it’s a relief and clothes fit better. Say “bust” not “boobs”, which is vulgar and disrespectful. “Breasts” is both too intimate and too clinical.

These rules are general rules for a woman who has a good figure and tones skin. Shorter skirts and cleavage are not for all petites. People are showing too much cleavage these days as it used to ve reserved for formal events only. Not to walk around the street or for professional situations, etc.
@VanessaValiente4 ай бұрын
For those that are concerned about showing their legs, I recommend a well chosen nude colored tight. It's not retro I promise! As for cleavage, breast placement is unique to all women as is personal style, so I always recommend to show the amount of decolletage as you are comfortable. Thank you for watching!

As a Brit who has lived in the States for years, my first reaction was to laugh. It was so predictable that so many American women would say "No!". Why? Because if it doesn't work for church then it isn't acceptable. Actually, it is great advice!

I actually really liked the first dress and the white and red outfits on her! The “ yes” yellow and brown dresses just screamed I’m single and looking and way too boob focused and looked more like club wear. Sorry in my middle age opinion those do not appear to be very classy choices on the model.

@@womanatthewell9603 It's really difficult for Shelli to look "not amazing" in anything :) Personal style is all about the person wearing it. Heres an easier and much faster hack no tools needed just dry toilet paper. Rub it back and forth on your brush and link residue adheres to the toilet paper fibers and quickly removes the lint. When its all gone simply rinse with water and shampoo scrubbing it with your fingers.
