I think that central vertical conduit would be a ricochet hazard unless you make other adjustments or add a good amount of padding behind the screen.

Is it possible to create a curve out of wood and then secure the EMT against the curve using a clamp to guide the EMT into that shape?

How do I bend an arch with legs same length? Say 30 inch arch with legs same length for 10 foot emt?

I have also had success with taking a longer piece of threaded steel pipe and inserting it all the way into a piece of conduit (rather than threading it onto the threads of the steel pipe). I cannot remember which sizes of conduit fit completely over which sizes of steel pipe, so you will have to experiment. Fortunately, you can do that right at the hardware store. Now, the conduit is only slid over the steel pipe, so it could slide back off. (You could also drill and insert a bolt through them if you need to keep it from sliding off.) But, I only needed it to mount a make-shift shower curtain rod. So, the pipe flange was screwed to the wall, and the threaded pipe stuck out horizontally, so it only had to support forces (gravity) perpendicular to the direction it would have slid. For context: I had to make a shower curtain rod that went down the side then also bent around a corner to cover the end of the bathtub/shower as well. Because I was mounting an 'L' shape, I had to put everything together before mounting onto the wall. I used pieces of threaded pipe that were at least a foot long, so it gave lots of support to keep that conduit from bending right where it was mounted on the wall. In all the years that I used that shower curtain rod, I never had it bend. And, I had roommates who weren't so very careful with things. 🤣 One could also use this method to mount the flange onto a horizontal surface, with the steel pipe sticking straight up. Then, one could simply slide the conduit down over the steel pipe, and let gravity hold it in place. This would be great for temporary installations, where it is OK to leave the flange in place permanently. To take down the project, one would simply lift off the conduit structure, and unscrew the pieces of steel pipe. The chosen length of the pieces of steel pipe would depend upon how much the structure needs to resist horizontal pressure (like wind, or idiots leaning against it). Shorter pipes would make it easier to set the conduit structure down onto the pipe, while longer pipes would resist horizontal forces better.

This is the deepest dive that I have ever taken into one KZbin channel. I must have watched about 3 hours of video on your channel, in one sitting. All your stuff is giving me so many more ideas for projects, or just ways to solve any upcoming problems. I really love how y'all are all about sharing things from "the community." So, instead of the channel being nothing but advertising for your products, it's more like a channel for a whole club of people who make stuff using conduit or pipe.

Awesome ! I like the threaded rod, nuts & washers method. Reworking an EMT curtain rod for 3-panel sliding glass door, and it’s tough to get the curtain to slip passed the irregular form of the EMT Compression Coupler I have in place now. Thanks ! !

Any possibility that you will make this for 1” to 3/4”?

Hi there, thanks for the comment and question! We actually tested a 1" to 3/4" version but weren't comfortable offering them based on the strength limitations and likely uses that people would have for the larger tubing. With that said, there are options for them if you search for them online.

@MakerPipe
@MakerPipe 9 күн бұрын
Hi there, thanks for the comment and question. We haven't tested them for exact numbers but they just rely on friction fit for both the clamp/knob and the small bolt and nut holding it to the 3/4" side so I would be cautious of using them for anything too crazy. I'd guess that it could support between 50-75 pounds before slipping but I'd recommend to test it for your particular application.

I REALLY NEED A PROTECTION SHELTER FOR MY X-MAS PALMS THAT ARE IN 3 SEPARATE 3' SQUARE WOOD BOXES, AND ARE ON COMMERCIAL/INDUSTRIAL WHEELS - 6" OFF THE GROUND. THOUGH I'M IN NE FLORIDA - IT GETS TOO COLD FOR THEM AND WE'VE HAD FREEZES IN THE PAST . I USED TO BE ABLE TO WHEEL THEM UNDER THE COVERED PATIO - BUT THEY ARE TOO TALL NOW. CAN YOU HELP ME PUT TOGETHER WITH YOUR PRODUCTS SOMETHING THAT I CAN USE WITH HEAVY PLASTIC SHEETING THAT WILL BE ON A 6' WIDE BY 15' LONG AND YES IT NEEDS TO BE ABLE TO EXTEND TO 14 ' TALL FOR FUTURE GROWTH . THE TELESCOPING FITTINGS ARE THE TRICK BECAUSE THEY ARE EASY TO USE AND FUNCTION WELL. SO A 6 X 14 OR 15 L X 14 OR 15 TALL. I NEED TO BE ABLE TO DISMANTLE IT AFTER THE COLD WINTER HAS PASSED. WOULD LOVE TO LINE UP THE BOXES IN A STRAIGHT ROW AND JUST PUT IT TOGETHER ON THE SPOT. CAN YOU PUT TOGETHER A FITTINGS LIST THAT I CAN PURCHASE AND HAVE SHIPPED TO ME ASAP ?

I like this one! And it's now on my TODO list. One comment about the presentation - I think it would be interesting if you supplemented this with a picture of a 3D model created with your "Maker Pipe Minis | 3D Modeling Connectors". The initial reverse engineering process is fine, but then back it up with the model? I find the "Maker Pipe Minis | 3D Modeling Connectors" extremely useful - and more interesting to use then sketchup.

Hi there, thanks for the comment! Do you mean durability? Check out Billy's video about the testing rig to see them tested more thoroughly. Some customers have commented about their durability in the comments there. They're obviously not metal and not going to be as durable as metal hinges but we've sold a bunch of them and people are happy! I forgot to mention that you can leave the middle hinge pin as tight or loose as you want. If you do tighten it, I’d recommend doing that before mounting the hinges unless you have small wrenches to get in between the conduit pieces and tighten them after.

Good review 👍 I mean no disrespect for the creator, but his quotes for 5k to 10k had to be for units far more substantial and professionally manufactured I would wager. I too am looking to do a cover similar but all season to handle a snow load. I can't see a solution using EMT. Point me to it if you have one. Cheers

Every car owner should own a spring loaded center punch! They are essential for emergency situations when a window needs to be broken for any type of rescue or escape situation. I was a volunteer firefighter and every member of my department carried one of these punches! Plus they're great for other projects.

I made my first purchase a short time ago and couldn't be happier. Nothing special but I purchased 6x10 welding curtains to separate off a section of my garage from sparks. I bought adjustable hinge flanges to make hangers from 3/4" conduit. My intent is to have the curtains hang from ceiling to floor. Other projects outside before winter have slowed my progress but these will be perfect. I will be ordering the 90 deg. connectors soon for the same purpose shown here. Your products are amazing. Congratulations
