The good news is there is already an easy way to have this. Just download Kitty Isolation mod, unpack it, then copy only the ENV folder (found inside DATA) and paste it into the vanilla DATA folder (this should overwrite a bunch of files in your vanilla ENV folder). This way you should have the script changes from Kitty without the altered enemy behaviour.

@@tadpolegaming4510 You will just get an extra alien in the later missions as that's part of the script, but it will only have normal senses like the vanilla alien so pretty manageable.

I would say it's the most challenging mod, with the possible exception of Kitty's Nightmare (harder version of Kitty Isolation). I've completed it like 3 or 4 times on Twitch, but didn't consider my playthroughs efficient enough to keep a recording. Maybe next time then.

The alien isn't getting scared off exactly, rather we are exploiting the alien's pathing logic. For some reason, if you open the vent on the floor in that corner the alien thinks it cannot reach you. And if you're in a place where the alien can't reach you, and it knows you're there, then its response is to run for a vent and try to look for another path to you (even if none exists). This trick is quite useful in M7 in Kitty as it gives you a safe spot, and it's allowed in NMG rules.

A QTE is something quite different, but I catch your drift that some parts seem to force you into quite precise strategies. There is usually more than one way to approach each challenge though, and you can still get through with suboptimal play.

This was something I wanted in the game. Like there would be multiple gamemodes. Easy would be only 1 monster, Medium theres 2, and Hard all 3.

It doesn't affect the chance of the alien dropping from the vent near the elevator. But if he does, you can shoot him then hide in the locker while he is stunned and out of line-of-sight. If done right, he goes to check out the flare, allowing you to reach Kuhlman.

It's a mod yes, just search for Monstrum extended settings mod on moddb.com. The version I'm playing in this video an older one, so it should be even better by now. You can completely customise which monsters you face each time, it doesn't have to be simply 1 of each monster (though that itself should be enough of a challenge for most people).

There are only a handful of truly scripted encounters in the whole game, but if you know how to speedrun it precisely enough then you can reliably force certain known patterns in many places.

I struggled the first time around too, so I know the feeling. I shot the joe as it was starting its grab animation, this is called a grab cancel and allows you to take advantage of a grab cooldown of about 8 seconds whereby no androids can grab you during that time (unless you are on 10% health or less).

The best place to download the mod is here www.speedrun.com/kitty_isolation/resources (scroll down to the patches section). Unfortunately, it isn't possible to modify any of the console versions, so you would need to buy the PC version (Steam or Epic store). The good news is that it's an old game and also well-optimised, so it should run well even on low-end gaming PCs.

Kind of - it can take a few resets to get the fuel you need for a good run. The good news is that if you have a run where you find a lot of visible fuel pickups within the levels, if you hit "load game" when resetting instead of "restart challenge" then all the visible environmental loot will be the same (but not the loot trolleys found between levels, and boxes/bodies are always random too).

Also there's a decent chance of getting a high-value fuel pickup on the loot trolley after one of the first few stages (maybe a 20-25% chance), though checking the trolley can take a few seconds so it's worth getting familiar with the position of the possible fuel spawn spot on the trolley which is different after each level.

"Taylor is quite a divisive figure" She and Marlow fascinate me. Taylor is basically trying to do her job, somewhat oblivious to the severity of it all (she spends most of the game delirious with pain and then fucked up on pain medication, something people tend to forget) and while Marlow thinks he is trying to do the right thing, his measures are so heavy handed that they're enough to apparently change Taylor's mind - you never get to ask her, but with the way she and Ripley were on the same page in her final moments, I actually think she would've been happy to go home and say "hi, yeah, here's the fight recorder, shame the Alien was wiped out by a crazy space pirate though, wink-wink." Of course, even with or without her help, Wey-Yu would've kept on looking. And then there's Marlow. "If your mother were here, she'd be helping me kill everybody else just to take out the Alien!" The second and third movies very much prove him wrong - even with what's at stake, Ripley puts priority on preserving life when she can. She won't even let the marines kill Burke.

Great analysis! I do have sympathy for Taylor, she gets a rough deal in the game's events and her character is clearly at odds with the mission she was given.

I played vanilla nightmare mode recently and found it more annoying than challenging. 95% of the containers were empty but you were constantly compelled to check them for the few that actually had things in, some of which I wouldn't have beaten the game without.

It would have been less frustrating if empty containers appeared as already opened. But on the other hand, it's feasible to beat the vanilla game on nightmare without looting once (there is a speedrun category for this called Low%). For the most hardcore survival/stealth experience, there is also a mod called No% which prevents you from using any weapons or items, and removes facehuggers (which you are normally forced to kill).
