I'm surprised to see the Son'a Intel battlecruiser selling for only 215M EC. It has a starship trait that is in demand for torpedo builds. Aside from selling for 900 lobi crystals, the ship is available as an account-wide unlock for players who purchase one of the special (and high-priced) packs in Mudd's Market. I suppose most high-end players purchased that pack, and no longer need to buy them on the exchange. Torpedoes and mines have a fundamental problem. Most of them do kinetic damage, and shields have an inherent 75% resistance to kinetic damage. To oversimplify things, it takes 4 points of kinetic damage to remove 1 point of an enemy's shield. Some damage does bleed through the shield, generally 10%. There are things which can make torpedoes work better, and increase the bleed-through percentage. For players who purchase all the right things, these problems can be solved. In fact, ships built around mines and torpedoes hold the game's DPS records. But without those things, kinetic builds can be very hard to use against targets with functioning shields. Science ships also frequently use torpedoes. Science ships, at least those flown by players who know what to do, don't depend on normal weapons damage. Instead they do "exotic" damage: opening powerful gravity wells and weird anomalies, bursts of radiation, setting other ships on fire or freezing them, etc. It's generally called space magic. Some torpedoes in the game do exotic damage to the targets they hit. Science ships tend to use those. And many science abilities strip away an enemy's shields anyway. But for an average player, without all the special gear, a torpedo/mine build can be frustrating. On another topic, one of the most recommended first-time purchases for a player is the increase in the energy credit cap. Being able to have more that 15m ec is important for many major exchange purchases.

I would advise against selling the Nanite Health Monitor kit module. It gives you a repeating heal, a damage resistance buff, and a debuff removal. A fresh application of it will also stop a Borg assimilation.

There is a difficult ground mission coming up, so I want to give some simple, low-cost advise on improving your away team. Bridge Officers shoot their weapons slowly. And they stop firing while they use one of their four BOFF abilities. So BOFFs have low weapon DPS. That is especially bad for tactical BOFFs, which depend on weapons for damage. As a result, many players do not take tactical BOFFs on away teams. From a bridge officer trainer (like the one under Admiral Quinn's office on Earth Space Dock, or the one in the Delta Quadrant Dyson Sphere command center), you can purchase effective abilities for your BOFFs for a small amount of EC. You'll need at least one science BOFF set up as a healer, maybe two. The ensign level ability doesn't matter much, use whatever you like. For lieutenant, Medical Tricorder II is a good choice. For Lt Commander you could use Vascular Regenerator II. And the Commander slot can be Nanite health Monitor. Hyperonic Radiation is another good Commander option, if you have two science boffs and don't need the extra heal. But note that Hyperonic Radiation heals Tholians instead of injuring them. For the other away teams members, use engineers. Chroniton Mine Barrier or Shield Recharge are best for ensign level abilities. For lieutenant and Lt Commander, use Turret Fabrication I and II. BOFFS may not shoot as fast as they should, but turrets do. For the commander ability, Support Drone Fabrication is usually best. But it is good to also have Quantum Mortar Fabrication as an option. Sometimes, enemies you have to defeat get stuck in walls. When they do, the mortars are one of the few weapons that can damage them. For yourself, carry at least one good heal, like your new Medical Tricorder kit module. Vascular Regenerator or Nanite Health Monitor modules are also useful. And both of those will stop a Borg assimilation (yes, the Borg can assimilate you and your BOFFs). You should also think of replacing your Statis Field kit module. Stasis Field is a "fragile" hold. Any damage to the held target, from you or a BOFF, breaks the hold. That makes it almost useless.

Hello, I have a hard time finding in-depth info about this game, so I thought I could ask you a thing or two : being interested in destroyer as I mastered my first rank 8 ship and started build ship parts, am I better building directly the rank 13 destroyer or should I start with the rank 8 (invincible) ? I dont mind grinding as I play casually without need to rush anything. Thanks and interesting video as I never seen much the alien ships being played.
