That is the flower I named after my mom. FEIL is pronounced FILE. I am so grateful to the person that make the cross allowing me to do the naming. The plant flowered for me the day my mother passed away.

Just a brief remark. Phalaenopsis equestris is the species. For example Phalaenopsis equestris 'Aparri' is a clone/form/variation whatever you wanna call it of the species. It's not correct to refer to it as an equestris species

Very late to the show, but that colour break on the hybrid would alarm me... The maxima looks healthy and beautiful, though!

I've had one of these for years hanging in my apple tree in my back yard in Los Angeles (3 miles from the beach), and I had trouble with squirrels eating the new growth. Finally I moved it to a spot hanging in my pergola that the squirrels cannot reach, and I finally got a bloom from it. Mine is mounted on a thick branch or tree limb - that is the way I bought it - and it has lots of roots. It is difficult to put it indoors since it is mounted on a limb. I do like the fragrance.

Is it normal for the first leaves from bare roots to look unhealthy after a couple of weeks into growth? The new leaves look healthy but the first leaves look flimsy and unhealthy.

I would love to know the name of the red cattleya. I was viewing on my iPhone which sucks for stopping and enlarging (for me). So, I’m giving up after 30 minutes of trying. I’m not even going to watch the rest of the video. I’m um, tired. Great up until that issue which wasn’t you unless you wanted to put names bigger, longer on the monitor for 62 and older. Thanks
