Traditionally the arms are about a foot long, and the tips are only 8 inches apart on top. Idk why people who build their own put the arms so far apart, when they are supposed to be much closer in. If a punch goes that far off to the side why block it? It would be no danger to you, or if it was coming from the side you would not expose your body to attack by going to meet it you would either get out of the way or wait for it to reach you to block it in order to not break up your defenses leaving much of your body exposed.

Wo ist jetzt der Unterschied zwischen normalem Wirbeln und "Karanza"? Oder ist das eigentlich nur ein anderes Wort? Oder bedeutet Karanza Wirbeln mit Schlagelementen?

is the tapi tapi drill similar to balintawak style of eskrima where the instructor attack "randomly" in any angle and the student is forced to defend and counter... Is it alive drill?
@schnorpel Жыл бұрын
In case someone is interested in the answer: No, there is somewhat of an order in the attacks. First of all the defender has to reply with a strike to the head on the same side where the initial attack came from. The attacker can only go down with his strikes if he choses to attack on the same side. As soon as he reached the knee and got the defender's reply he needs to attack on the other side or to the belly or the head after which the defender can choose on which side he want's to reply. This is the basic Tapi Tapi rule in DAV Modern Arnis as far as I remember. With enlarging the distance you can go into a short one handed Single Sinawali. You can also decide to shorten the distance and attack with the short end of the stick. The more advanced Tapi Tapi drills include many more techniques like arm bars, abanicos, disarms and many more.
