Its been a very busy year. Hope to get back on my machinery projects soon. I have now got extra help on the Caterpillar machinery front with a guy that works for Cat. He has the specialist tools needed.

I learned in a Cat powered 22B 50 years ago. Judging from the number seen in videos I think there are more 22Bs and 22RBs left out there than any other machine .

I was 8 when this happened, and remember being in school assembly which came to an end abruptly. The teachers were in tears and we didn't know why at the time. I was met from school that day by my mum who told me what had happened and I remember seeing bits on the telly at the time. I'll never forget it. I have 4 younger siblings who were too young at the time to remember it and have said so. R.I.P to all those who were lost

Sorry my fried you showed us nothing what about the engine I have one like it with Ruston and Hornsby VSH engine from 1950!!
@DOCTORDROTT2 ай бұрын
The bit I filmed on the engine was lost, corrupted file . When I first came across this roller its engine oil was the worst that I have ever seen, it was thick. I had to flush it with diesel to get it to flow. The oil filter matched a Merc one. It needed four oil changes. The engine only needed tappet adjustment and now runs very well

Lovely little machine, my cub luffing shovel at thelkeld is great, extremely powerful for there size. Cracking bit of kit. May I ask though why he was putting the cab lock on when was digging/dumping? It not a great habit to have as it wears the lock out well and could snap the pin, plus if the machine is on an angle it should be levelled prior and/or you should be able to control it with the bucket. Just wondering 👍🏻
@DOCTORDROTT4 ай бұрын
Not sure, I operated it and did not need the swing lock when I used it. It ran far better than last year .
@RustNRestoration4 ай бұрын
I was learning to drive it and I was told to put the swing lock in (I think) the machine hadn’t been used for 2 years and it was operating lovely towards the end of the two days, towards the end I was getting more confident and not putting the swing lock on every time but it does tend to wander when digging, I imagine you would have to use the swing lock if digging a straight trench. I had a couple of people ask if they could have a go, one being a 22RB driver and they both said f@“k that and jumped out after 5 minutes😂😂😂
@DOCTORDROTT4 ай бұрын
@@RustNRestoration I noticed that the machine operation did improve when I had a go compared to 2022. I found that if you feathered the slew it did not wander. Its strange that I enquired about that machine a long while back but wanted a RB, passed the info on to Ian Davies and it came to Wales anyway lol. This event gets better and better every year. 10 out of 10 for me. If you want a closer look of my 10 RB give us a call.
@Priest57man4 ай бұрын
@@RustNRestoration Fair enough if you stopped using it when built up your confidence. Feathering the slew or using the bucket is the best way of preventing wandering. As with any cable machine the more use the better it will get, however if you only use it every June this time next year you’ll be back to square one! And yes not many people can drive PRIESTMANs with slew lever in middle plus pulling the levers back.

It’s 20th October 1966 and 15yrs before I was born. I remember my mum telling me about this disaster because she said it was the only time her father lost his temper and “give her shit”. My mum was 13 at the time and when the slag heap destroyed the primary school my mum said “they’re lucky I wish that had happened to my school instead” and my grandfather turned around and told her she’s lucky it didn’t hit her school as most of the children in that school had died.
