Mark 4 would have been amazing if HUGHES and BOLIN weren't blitzed all the time....wish they would have done a follow up to Come Taste........instead of imploding....

I was there. I was 13, my mom dropped me off, it was loud, a wall of speakers and the pot smoke hung thick. Thanks for sharing.

First heard this in the mid-70s as a teenager and loved the combination of classical and rock. I'm sixty-one now and still find it a stunning piece of music. RIP Jon and thanks for all the smiles!

It's ironic, but Come taste the band, was more heavier than the Stormbringer album. By today's standards it's a great rock record. Unfortunately the band could not survive Blackmore's departure and the drug habits of Bolin and Hughes and the sub standard shows. 1976 I remember it well at 18 years of age with Deep Purple being my fave band and still today at 65!

Coverdale and Hughes allegedly wrote this in the Burn sessions but didn't think Blackmore would listen. I reckon he'd have loved it

I am a complete deep purple nut to start. Tommy bolin I'm sure was a great guitarist as every now and then in this concert he shines. However unfortunatly his additions to drugs & alcohol have taken it's toll and concequently the rest of this great group are quite frankly compensating and covering up for his inabilities ( through his additions) I find it also sad that this is the best recorded concert with Tommy. I have listened to others with dispair. Bless you Tommy ! Drugs the scourg of humanity.

Purple MKII firing on all cylinders. Make no mistake about it, when you say Deep Purple this is what you mean, not the =1 out there now. That's a completely different band even if there are three of the same members. Maybe call the current lads version of the band Lite Lavender or profound periwinkle.....but definitely NOT Deep Purple.

I loved the album come taste the band. They should have taken a break after recording the album. The tour was a bit hit and miss for me. It's a shame as they could have done a few more albums if they had taken their time before hitting the road imo
