I am a dog lover so really enjoy these doggy videos.I was surprised to hear it said that hand reared puppies often do not survive! This surprises me having hand reared four litters over the years and all did very well. I think it’s probably the formula used which they always loved the recipe having been passed on to me by a breeder.No way could I ever feed 2 hrly. Initially I would feed three hrly x 7 eventually reducing to x 6 in 24 hrs. And then getting them on to 4hrly feeding. Maybe it does depend on why they are orphaned.The bitch may have been sick which could then affect the puppies. I did always ask for an antibiotic cover for the pups as often they were not able to take colostrum from mum. Being elderly I can no longer care for the number of dogs I used to have and of course many are no longer with us. The usual age for my dogs passing has been 16-17 yrs. this including small breed. The ravages of old age affects dogs just as it does people and it has always been sad to see them euthanized or maybe pass at home. They all are fondly remembered.J
