A spur is rail that leads away from the main and typically goes to an industry. A siding is rail along the main and can be dead ended or not.

Question: How many trains does the minnesota Prairie line see per day or week?

Nice video. Are there any other locations that you can recommend in North Dakota? I just visited and it was nice, so I hope to go back in the next few years.

That is the longest ballast train I have ever seen. The traffic on the bridge was running at restricted speed because a new catwalk was being installed and I think some new track as well. Too bad it wasn't a sunny day, it looks more spectacular especialy in the morning or evening with the foliage. Good video. Greetings from Valley City.

Thanks! It was a long one! I’ve been to the area a number of times, but this is the first video I’ve taken there. Last time I was there the catwalk was just at the east end of the bridge, so it was interesting to see that they’d completed it all the way across on both sides. Thanks for the comment.

You can say what you want about these caterpillar prime movers.im not putting that raggedy engine in my locomotives!I saw two of t.v.&w caterpillar engines struggling to pull a loaded covered hopper car train! You call this a good pulling engine?I don't think so!

Has the track been rehabbed on the west end of the line since then for a faster speed?

Is the Minnesota Prairie Line Railroad owned by Twin Cities & Western? What lines does MPL operate?
@bkaden1
@bkaden1 7 жыл бұрын
Yes, the Minnesota Prairie Line is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Twin Cities & Western. The track is actually owned by the Minnesota Valley Regional Rail Authority, but the Twin Cities & Western maintains the track and operates the trains. The line runs 94 miles from a connection with the TC&W at Norwood Young America to a connection with the BNSF at Hanley Falls. You can find more information at www.mvrra.org/
