Her top notes are just beautiful. They really shimmer in her upper register.

Imagine getting to sing this with Bernstein conducting after being handpicked by him as a last minute replacement to June Anderson who had been ailing - just, just imagine it. That must’ve felt incredible.

Constance has always been a very classy, gifted soprano. I was in a couple of operas with her in France. It is great to see her get her well merited ovation here.

That really was marvelous! Thank you Miss Hauman! We did an audition together about seven years ago for an opera company. I loved playing for you. Thank you for that privilege!

Been (1996) present at this performance in Copenhagen at Christiansborg Castle, (the castle of the Danish parlament) I can tell it was exiting, tough and unforgettable. Constance Hauman still lives inside me!

I've listened to this piece through the years. I fell deeply in love with both liszt and classical piano because of it. This is one of the best interpretations of Sonata in Bm that I've had the pleasure to listen to in years. Thank you for posting it.

Every time i HEAR Mr. von Oeyen play Liszt, I am more convinced that he is THE Liszt painist of our day. He gets it!!
@Jussibfan13 жыл бұрын
Mr. von Oeyen's playing is both a musical and emotional delight. He takes us on that roller coaster ride. He is definitely a MAJOR player in the piano sweepstakes.

Was this after the performance with Anderson and Hadley, or before it? I like her rendition very much, but I prefer Anderson's on this one because Constance uses a bit too much vibrato, although I respect her for taking the role over in just 1 day.

Too much vibrato? This is *not* Anglican music for a straight-tone boys choir...lol. Just......... .....shhhhhhh 😎😎😎
@koosriedijk38724 жыл бұрын
@@rugby8-Philadelphia I agree with Tom VB (although 9 years ago) that the vibrato is rather heavy and even disturbing from the start (1.25 ) till about 3.00 After that the song is such, that the vibrato is less prominent. From the maybe 70-80 versions I heard indeed this one has too much , although like Tom VB I enjoy the rest of her performance.She has certainly qualities . Your comparison though with Anglican music is total nonsense. From a classical singer or a non classical, but trained singer, we may expect less vibrato, as simply as that. It is widely known that too much vibrato can be rather distracting. Any teacher can tell you that.
