24:12 to whom it might be interested, the location is Piazza maggiore in Bologna, Itlay. and the chairs in the middle of the piazza are for cinema sotto le stelle which hold every year during the summer.

Based on what information the algorithm has decided to put Tram line, metro or bus line?

Brilliant. Really well done. Fascinating to observe the various flows of traffic. Fingers crossed that people respect the right-of-way. Kudos to CalTrans.

Are the data from TomTom free? It would have been great if you could show the entire process from exporting the network from TomTom, importing it into VISUM, and then using the matrix function in VISUM. A step-by-step guide for the whole process would be very helpful.

Why did you put 1.5 people in 133 cars? You monsters!
@christopherhargreaves32937 ай бұрын
You mentioned real-time and used words like true data of your network, which I question whether anyone would agree based on what accuracy and not purely based on FCD data? In 2013, the University of Michigan research paper on Tom Tom data was 67% and 66% accurate of all jams accuracy; this has improved since, perhaps, as I haven't seen any new research. How can I validate what is shown in your system? For example, GoodVision provides visual data to compare detection data for verification, so I am 100% assured of the AI data supplied? Otherwise, this data can be fake, which is a lot in today's industry, and there is no way for end users to independently validate this.

DTA is still unreliable and very tricky to tinker with for years at a time. Good video to explain the theory behind DTA but not in real life practice. DTA needs to be better modified to be more intuitive, and for god sakes...fix the error codes to be useful not just random words.

do only 15% of cars turn right on red? I totally would have thought it would be at least 95%
@PTV-Mobility9 ай бұрын
Hi Diego, thanks for your comment. The value used for Right Turn on red comes from data observed when counting the vehicles. In this training video, percentage used was an example number that the trainer entered. Not all intersections have a high right turn on red, even if allowed, depending on the conflicting traffic, pedestrians, and red time for the the turners attempting to make a right. A higher percentage or value of right turn on red means there are more gaps and more vehicles can make the turn. At busy times, this could be a smaller percentage because there are less gaps

Can we adjust the level of detail in the zoning structure model? E.g. for the primary study area, can we have more detailed zones and connector structures, while using a more aggregated zoning and connector structure for external area?
@PTV-Mobility Жыл бұрын
Yes, the task can be accomplished by utilizing the "Main Zone" component in PTV Visum, where zones with a higher spatial aggregation can be designated as main zones or territories within the model. This allows the analysis of attraction and production potentials at this elevated level.

It’s crazy that a five lane highway with traffic as far as you can see *looks* like all of humanity is on the road, when in reality it’s a pretty small amount of people.

This video assumes conditions in favor of mass transport over individual transport. But many areas and situations are different. What if each person starts their trip at a different time? what if each person wants to travel a different route?
@antoinemercier9112 Жыл бұрын
If you consider 1.5 people in car for 1 on a bike. Sure, the car can transport more at that time. But for the ecology point of view. The bike is faaaaar more efficient
@peterkanzow6500 Жыл бұрын
If the buses follow a schedule, there won't be 8 of them lining up at the same time on the signal.
@peterkanzow6500 Жыл бұрын
The video also deprives the cars of their most important advantage: choosing an individual route. In this situation, nobody would actually use a car.
@peterkanzow6500 Жыл бұрын
This video proves that bicycles are completely useless devices as they slow down travel by a factor of 3 compared to pedestrians. Thus: ban all bicycles!
@PTV-Mobility Жыл бұрын
As replied to your other comment: the relevance of this video is not universal. For mid-density settlements your conclusion is not valid. However, in high density zones indeed there are conflicts between cyclists and pedestrians, planning has to be done for both "separate, but together" and indeed where many people show up, they move with higher specific flow when walking than cycling.
@peterkanzow6500 Жыл бұрын
Transport is from A to B. This video just shows a lot of people gathering around A the best they can, and how long they take to pass A. But where is B? which means of transport is fastest at point B? I suggest extending the roads by 10 km and then run the test again. Winner is who is at B first.
@PTV-Mobility Жыл бұрын
Dear Peter, you are right. For this reason we offere elaborate planning software which is used globally to plan traffic and transportation systems with any level of complexity. The video here shows a minimum example which is relevant in certain settings (e.g. high urban density), but not always (sparsly populated rural areas).
