He seemed happier with the Bad Daddies when he was playing bass. It gave him something to do with his hands also. He was a great bass player back in the day.

He’s a great singer and bass man, but I always got sort of a diva vibe from him. Does anybody know if he is a nice guy in real life?
@Bebe-if5pl6 ай бұрын
I too get that vibe from him. I think he is a EGO maniac myself. I think he has a self inflated image of himself, he's the best kind of thing. He wants to shine and not share the limelight so to speak. I observed this in a video where he was singing a duet with Kim Keys and she over sang him and he appeared to get angry/upset and walked away from her to cool himself off and then returned giving her a phoney smile. I said to myself look at Peter getting mad. There are other things I've noticed too that indicates he had a HUGE EGO, but I am not here to write a book 😅. Nevertheless, I was a big fan of his. LOVED his voice when he could still sing in his high tenor voice and LOVED his underrated BASS playing, he was very soulful in his playing. I preferred him with Chicago but found him 👌 as a solo artist. Naturally, his voice changed as he got older but sometimes that was hard to accept for alot of Chicago fans. Peace ☮😊

Cetera was an amazing bassist in the early 1970s, up there with the McCartneys and Jack Bruces of the bass world. Never understand why he put it away in the mid--1980s.

Glen Campbell, the Country Music Star and Legendary Session Guitarist, substituted for Brian Wilson with the Beach Boys in the 1960's on a Concert Tour - playing Brian's Base Guitar role and singing. Campbell said that the most difficult thing he dealt with as musical performer was playing low Base lines and singing High Notes. It was like his Brain would get stuck and he would accidently sing the songs in a lower key to match the Bass Guitar. This makes Peter Cetera's work with CHICAGO all the more impressive - Cetera could play Low Base Lines and Sing High Notes at the same time.

You know.......I prefer this imperfect vocal performance to his many other "forced" vocal performances I've seen on KZbin. His concert performances feel inauthentic for my taste. I was searching for footage of PC playing bass and found this. It's going in my Saved list for sure.

A Fan since 1970 -- He was great and should have sung it in the ORIGINAL KEY at the RRHOF one more time -- he could have stretched it one last time. Very disappointed and he missed a pinnacle recognition.
@yobculture3 жыл бұрын
I agree. He really disappointed me with his bad attitude about the RRHOF. His list of demands was ridiculous. Weird that he thought he could dictate all the rules despite not being in the band since the ‘80s.

Cetera's voice is still great CHICAGO should have let Cetera sing in the key he wanted to, during the band performance at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Awards. Instead, those old farts ridiculed Cetera - but he sounds better than they do.

The man is wonderful even in old age, I wish I could write him before either one of us leave this world, especially when the virus is about to get worse. He's adorable, and always has been. Elvis never had anything on him, voice or appearance. . But I guess, to each his own.

Very under-ratted bassist. The first Chicago album called Chicago Transit Authority contains some of the most innovative, unique, fresh and skilled electric bass ever recorded. Back then there was Pete Cetera and Carol Kaye. I am sure there were other skilled bassist's, but Peter Cetera and that first album completely changed the way I listened to music. I always have at least 3 vinyl copies of that great great album. Man. Those guys could sing also. All of them had unique sounding voices. Peter, Terry Kath and the rest of the band really were leaps ahead of their time. Who knows what Terry Kath wold have gone on to do. His guitar and vocal style were raw an very tight and right there with the band. Chicago Transit Authority. If you have not heard the instrumental tune called INTRODUCTION, then you are missing the experience of Peter Cetera's awesome style.
