We saw him two weeks ago in Belfast! Awesome after 25 years! My wife was 8 months pregnant at the time. Our baby danced in the womb. Both of our hands followed her lead!❤️❤️

This was the first song I ever heard from him on NPR. I have enjoyed his music ever since.

Im a huge fan of pearl jam and bellowhead and although the music is completely different, what they share in common is complete and shear enjoyment of performing and it shows! :)

A new found appreciation for this as it was popularized by Stan Hugill, the last real shantyman. He was a friend and colleague of my grandfather at Outward Bound Aberdyfi!

An artist who is actually capable of philosophy? Makes me care even more, actually. In fact, I only listen to art that can at least express that which philosophy entails, if not fully embody it. Philosophy is a paradox. It is like losing a legal battle to your ex-wife, her taking away all your money, only to realize that you do not want any of it back, including the wife. Living without the two is too much reality, but living with it, is no reality at all.

Lisa's husband, Andy here. This song is suburb and beautiful, I have never known such a sublime and beautiful expression of hatred and bitterness in song this powerful before. 👍

Just heard that John French is seeking unpaid royalities from Proper over his Beefheart book (as of early 2024). This is shocking news, especially given his history, his lack of recognition - and more importantly - royalties for work done with Beefheart. I sincerely hope that Proper Publishling will do, or has done, the proper and decent thing for this incredible artist. He ain't getting younger!

Rockette is a good friend of mine and he is poor as a church mouse. These guys got ripped off.

@@Justdon-s2s Tragic magic. If I were a bigtime multi-millionaire rock star I'd figure out a way to find all those loved and well-regarded musicians like Rockette, check out their financial status, and if in genuine need, then arrange an annual pension for them. Even like £30K - anything to ease their twilight years. People go on about black artists getting ripped off but the fact is *everybody* has been ripped in the music industry, unless you're lucky it seems. Hmm. Shout to Rockette from across the pond x may a rainbow lead him to a wee pot of gold, not a gold pot of wee :-) xx

Genius drummer - he also transcribed almost all of Captain Beefheart’s musical ideas during the Trout Mask Replica era to the band, no easy task. John French is a genius in his own right. Love him. His drumming on Safe as Milk and Strictly Personal also blows my mind.

Hauntingly beautiful performance by Karine without any unecessary melodrama. Perfect. Love the Scottish accent retention as some artists put on an American accent when singing.
