Sans comprendre le lingala, sauf quelques mots, en ecoutant, j'ai la chaire de poule et des larmes aux yeux. Adios Grand maître Franco. J'ai eu ce privilège de le rencontrer à Douala au Cameroun courant 86.

This was Lovy Mokolo Longomba's first song for his beautifu wife Mado Zaina. The "Mama Ya Mwana" phrase in the chorus means "Mother of the Boy". That boy is Lovy's first son also called Lovy Longomba. Sulutani Hamisi Fataki Lokasa Masumbuko ya Dunia was moonlighting and singing alongside Kassongo wa Kanema on this 1980 recording by AIT at Polygram under the watch of producer of Felix Jakomo. This was the year Virunga was formed and there was realignment. Kasongo who was in Super Mazembe at the time was ironically a founding member of Virunga at Garden Square. In the sizzling crisscrossing of personnel, the Les Kinois rhythm guitarist Okelo Jose Songa who was from Jericho had joined Super Mazembe to play alongside Rapok and Songoley, and Ililko Madjo Maduley Abdalla too had joined Mazembe, so even Mazembe was bursting in the seams with new musicians. In the studio, another man ably assisting Bookerlose on solo guitar was Mwalimu Bedjos. You see, the lines between the Zairean bands were always blurred in the heyday.

Africans wake up. We sing, praise, and follow leaders who are oppressing the poor people. As is in Congo so it is in Nigeria. That's crazy. Mobutu stole the wealth of Congo gold to Belgium.

My stay in Cape Town was well made by this beautiful song as i wanted to show them how deep an African i am!

The song used to be a favourite of Mogale Mafatshe, a presenter at the now defunct Radio Mmabatho (in the old homeland of the erstwhile South Africa) during his programme 'Moribo wa Afrika' (African beat). He has since passed away. Still my favourite song.
Les œuvres de tous ces musiciens incarnent chez moi la bonté et la beauté. Je reconnais sur la photo Nzaya Nzayadio en pantalon rouge (paix à son âme).
