I reckon a custom made craft for getting fresh produce to the asian market fast with out flying will be the big gain in profit. A hovercraft that tows designed containers that scim the surface of the sea like the hovercraft but 'float' due to the speed provided by the hovercraft. The Towing and sciming as opposed to any hydrology and flying uses much less energy. Getting the produce thire in a week would be fine. The containers could be aluminum shells maxed out for load utility. They would not be sophisticated.

Hi David ,, has anyone understood how the evolution to the unique pollination system came to produce the avocado fertilization? Have to worked out why the type A and B has a different flowering mechanism and window ?

Interesting. Has the microbiome of the soil changed or been depleted by agricultural methods used over the last generation perhaps? Could that affect the microbiome in and on the plant? May the Lord prosper your efforts to understand and solve the problem. Thanks for sharing.
I have avocado tree, its been 5 yrs old now. But still no fruit to produce. It has a flower november.

From what I have observed, the native beetles seem to do the best job of pollinating kiwifruit where there is no obvious male kiwifruit flowers available in the area. My guess is the beetles travel quite some distance to pollinate kiwifruit, so there must be some attraction for them.

In Belgium, today, we are asleep, BMSB is under the radar. It is there, but noboby notices anything. In this unseen realtity we are at the brink of een outbreak (next years). I would suggest, send a research student to Leuven, Belgium to monitor this: from unseen to all-over the place or how BMSB outbreaks starts in cities with lots of ornamental plants.

Just eating one and found it tasty but I think would taste better off the tree. I live in Ireland and I think it has gone a little soft by the time it got here and we are in July now. Nice looking apple nice flavour

Thank you for the video and your work. Maybe I misunderstood but 0,3% of 1 million would give 3000 fruits not 1000.

Thx so much for your video and the research that you've been working on. I realize that you're in NZ, and I'm aware of the manuka myrtle. I know that the bees absolutely love this tree. I have been studying the Chinese 5 Elements for many years now, and have observed that there are certain plants/trees that carry an elemental vibration that the bees do NOT prefer, like avocado trees (although they will visit these plants as a secondary preference). I believe (and would like to prove in some way) the truth of this. My theory is that the avocado trees would pollinate much better if they receive visitation from some other insect species, although I don't know which ones yet!! 😊 So, maybe you could do some investigations with this? I don't believe the answer lies in any insects coming from the Hymenoptera, Coleoptera or Diptera Orders. Of course, I'm aware that if you bring in non-native insects, then you might be opening the door to an imbalance in the NZ native environmental/biodiversity space (invasive species). Anyway, thx for taking time to read this, and please keep me posted if you have found out some answers!

im no rocket scientist but i dont think that is the type of insulation i woud want to be using lol thats highly toxic chemical crap... if its not good for humans i can only imagine what its like for a bee, them getting that stuff rubbers on their eyes and what not Ouch!!

Very interesting! I had these on a house plant a few days ago (curry leaf plant) I think I spotted it just in time and have scraped them all off whiles wiping the leaf down with a damp towel. I've quarantined the plant for the next few weeks and am carrying out a daily inspections in the meantime.

Take a look at my bumblebee nest in bird box. I've found since that you can just fit a bird box low to the ground on a tree and it can be taken up by bumble bees. Too low for blue tits and too high for mice. Check out my little film.
