When these were introduced to Police Scotland 5+ years ago the soft rear suspension meant that the amount of emergency kit (signs, cones, first aid kit etc) in the back had to be drastically reduced. Even then, every speed bump felt like a speed hill 😆

Firefighters do this to allow a bit of a breeze to blow over the engines, because the engines are working really hard at high revs, and therefore creating a lot of heat. Plus it’s August and no doubt a hot day. The last thing that they want to happen is for an appliance to overheat.
