Far too many intrusive safety features, this seems to be a common theme now thanks to the EU regulations, my brand new Mazda CX-60 is really annoying to drive, can't really enjoy driving anymore without being told by the car if you are within 100m of another car.

I agree. I do think that the Fisker Ocean has gone further than it needed to, in terms of intrusive safety features though. Unfortunately, safety features such as lane departure warning have to be enabled by default on every journey, and in the the UK where many roads are tight, it is very frustrating.
@craigyjp

@@ontheroadwithalex_official you should try the terrible roads in Ukraine, we spend most of our time driving along the center when no traffic is around and the lane assist fights you all the time. When I first got the CX-60 it was dam right dangerous to drive as it was super aggressive on the steering wheel. Now its been adjusted its better but if i had my time again I would never buy a car with lane assist after 2022.

My Thoughts on Fisker Ocean Cars As someone deeply interested in the evolution of electric vehicles (EVs), the Fisker Ocean has caught my attention. The blend of cutting-edge technology, sustainable practices, and sleek design makes it a compelling option in the rapidly growing EV market. Here are my thoughts on the various aspects of the Fisker Ocean cars: The Fisker Ocean boasts a modern and stylish design that stands out on the road. Its aerodynamic shape, distinctive front grille, and futuristic lighting elements give it a unique presence. The interior is equally impressive, with a minimalist yet luxurious approach. The use of eco-friendly materials, such as recycled plastics and vegan leather, aligns with the vehicle's commitment to sustainability without compromising on comfort and aesthetics. Performance-wise, the Fisker Ocean doesn't disappoint. It offers a robust electric powertrain that delivers quick acceleration and smooth handling. The various driving modes cater to different preferences, from an eco-friendly mode for maximum range to a sport mode for enhanced performance. The range is another strong point, with the Fisker Ocean offering competitive mileage on a single charge, making it suitable for both daily commutes and longer trips. One of the most appealing aspects of the Fisker Ocean is its dedication to sustainability. The company's emphasis on using recycled materials and renewable energy in the manufacturing process is commendable. The solar roof, which provides additional charging capabilities, is a standout feature that underscores Fisker's innovative approach to reducing the vehicle's carbon footprint. This focus on sustainability resonates with environmentally-conscious consumers looking to make a positive impact. The Fisker Ocean is packed with advanced technology and features that enhance the driving experience. The intuitive infotainment system, complete with a large touchscreen and user-friendly interface, ensures seamless connectivity and access to essential information. Safety is also a priority, with a suite of driver-assistance features designed to provide peace of mind on the road. From adaptive cruise control to lane-keeping assist, the Fisker Ocean incorporates the latest in automotive tech. While the Fisker Ocean offers a lot of value, the pricing is competitive, especially considering the features and performance it brings to the table. The availability of different trims allows potential buyers to choose a model that fits their budget and needs. Fisker's direct-to-consumer sales approach, combined with an expanding service network, aims to simplify the purchasing process and enhance customer satisfaction In conclusion, the Fisker Ocean represents a significant step forward in the EV market. Its combination of design, performance, sustainability, and technology makes it a strong contender in the electric SUV segment. For those looking to embrace the future of transportation while minimizing their environmental impact, the Fisker Ocean is undoubtedly worth considering. As the EV landscape continues to evolve, it's exciting to see innovative options like the Fisker Ocean driving the change towards a more sustainable future.

EVs have serious problems that will keep them from dominating the mass market. 1) They're too expensive. EVs cost about $10K more than an equivalent ICE car, 2) EVs take far too long to charge, in many cases an hour or more, 3) Only the more expensive ones have a reasonable range, 4) They deliver poor range in cold weather, 5) They depreciate far faster than gas cars, 6) They cost too much to insure and repair (that's why Hertz has backed away from their plans to increase EV adoption), 7) They have a risk of catching fire when they are parked, usually when charging, perhaps in a garage or under an apartment building. For example, the 10th Chinese BYD EV dealership just burned down, 8) They cost more to drive per mile than an efficient hybrid when charged on a public charger at the highway-robbery rates they charge for electricity. This is a serious problem for people who don’t own a place to put a home charger, 9) Sufficient public charging infrastructure doesn't yet exist. This sometimes results in extremely long queues at peak times (such as holidays). 10) There is insufficient electricity supply to support a complete switch to EVs. About 20% more supply is needed but that's not planned or funded. 11) EVs don’t have as large of an environmental benefit as claimed - they require massive amounts of mining to create batteries, battery production emits CO2, defective/degraded battery recycling is difficult, EV fires are extremely toxic.

People who said the old frontera was terrible were not using the car what it was designed for. They drive it round town when the car is in its element driving off road in rural countryside environment, not around towns and cities (mind you with the number of potholes, you need a 4x4). So the old frontera was very good for what it was designed for and still had its place, if not more now, seeing that all newer cars are carbon copy Niros, older true SUVs will keep their price. I bought a suzuki Jimmy and completely expected the road ride to be bad and the off road capability to be excellent. Its like reviewing a pair of boots and saying they terrible footwear while walking in town. The new frontera will be terrible at offroad even as its being sold as a rugged go anywhere car while carrying the fronteras name and compared to the older ones it will be better on road but will have no offroad ability, thus take the U out of SUV and it has a smaller engine so clearly no sport, so it's just a V, boring uninteresting Vehicle.

I guess Vauxhall is just catering to its audience. By offering it as a PHEV and EV, it can entice company car owners too. I don’t think Vauxhalls able to add all the off-road kit for a competitive price like the Dacia Duster. It would be nice if Vauxhalls offered it in this format with a big diesel and off-road kit (that way it could really live up to the Frontera name) However, I don’t think they’d sell many of these in this format, especially as Vauxhall themselves haven’t got a massive desirability

I owned a Vauxhall Frontera 2.3L LWB for seven years from 1992 to 1999, did 100,000 miles and loved it. We lived (live) in rural Mid Wales and had a family of three small children (3 under 4) and our LWB Frontera was perfect for changing nappies on the drop-down tailgate. . Our Frontera could and did go anywhere, it was a proper 4x4 off-road vehicle and not a fluffy cross-over, it was built to do a job of work out in the countryside, not potter around suburbia and pose in front of school gates. My wife was turning right at a junction on the A483 when someone driving an executive saloon (can't remember what) rear-ended our Frontera at high speed, the rear spare wheel carrier took the impact and our 4x4 was only lightly damaged and perfectly drive-able whilst the offending saloon was written off and fire brigade had to cut it in half to recover it. The Frontera was actually a re-badged Isuzu workhorse built from kits in Luton, It did have short comings in that it wasn't fast and only did the low thirties to the gallon on diesel but in its natural rural environment it did well, we loved our big green Frontera. The people who moaned about the Vauxhall Frontera were people who should have bought a Ford hatchback or a Volvo estate, the Frontera was more like the old fashioned Land Rover Defender or basic Discovery. We miss our Frontera even today, nobody seems to make a rugged, tough, practical 4x4 estate anymore, even Land Rover has gone all marshmallow and far too expensive, The nearest vehicle these days would be a dual cab Toyota or Ford Ranger, they are everywhere in Powys. I hope the new Frontera isn't another cuddly Quashqai clone, there are loads of those pretend 4x4s about. I will need to buy a new car this year,, the pricing for the new LR Defender/Discovery is a joke, Land Rover has abandoned the rural market in favour of the moneyed, mothers of Maidenhead. I might take a look in the Subaru dealer next week.

Although I did criticise the Frontera quite a bit in the video, I do have a nostalgic love for those rough and ready old school 4x4’s. As you said, there aren’t really any new equivalents to the old Frontera. I’m guessing the emissions regulations are preventing thirsty diesels and petrols from being built, in favour of small engine capacity PHEV’s. I think green is one of the best colours if not the best colour for the Frontera. It’ll be interesting to see if the Frontera suddenly appreciates in value too. Love the phrase ‘moneyed mothers of Maidenhead’ 😂… might have to reuse that one for myself

@@ontheroadwithalex_official Please feel free to make fun of the "mothers of Maidenhead", I'm two hundred miles away and thus relatively safe. I saw a 72 plate Suzuki Jimny this afternoon, I just wish it was 50% bigger. Dacia Dusters are very popular and well regarded, the Dacia Jogger looks interesting too, both cars fitted with all weather tyres maybe what I'm looking for if the ground clearance is good enough. I think it is sad that car designers are prioritising touch screens, Apple CarPlay and satnav over rubber mats, sump guards and good ground clearance. An electric car that can wade through 600mm of flood water, cope with a handful of children and Labradors and yet cost less than £30k would be perfect. I don't need metallic paint or tinted windows.

The Dacia Duster or Subaru Crosstrek could be good ‘go anywhere’ cars. From what I’ve heard, they both have a nice ride quality too. The Skoda Karoq could be an alternative in 4x4 guise. It has a sturdy, spacious interior and drives nicely, but off road credentials such as ride height aren’t the best.

Thanks for commenting! I’d agree by saying that the E-class is a very easy car to live with and a good all-rounder. From personal experience, I’d say that an equivalent 4 series is sharper to drive, but the E-class is still a competent car at cornering. The E-class also has other things going for it like the lack of buffeting when the roof is down, which I don’t think I mentioned in the video. Which engine E-class do you have out of interest?

1st thing mentioned Range. Range is not even close to as important than reliable charging in what ever conditions or what ever SoC. And in this EV9 is world leading currently. Lets see what the rest of the 6 minutes tell us. Its easy to see this reviewer is a young dude without a family, without the focus on practicality, ownership costs, reliability, warranty and space. iX is a nice trendy 2 person large suv for occasional rear occupants, but not really for a family travel usage. EV9 is a proper swiss army knife with tons of space and in practicality iX comes no where near. In 4-5 person use EV9 has almost double the trunk space.
