Speaking as a foreigner: Morally and strategically, reparations sounds insane. It is clearly an adversarial position to the whites. From someone who knows they would be toast if things were to be fractured this way. There's no winning, you lost every time and will lose every time. As far as I understand you get the whites to collaborate when applying republican(as in loyalty to the republic, not the party) and colorblind ideals. Which these are not. Guilt is painted in very broad strokes. And justice is quantified in pretty much on overvaluing your suffering. Maybe you could get it with "reparation and separation". At least like this the whites would have the certainty that this is a one time thing. Because the one thing that sounds obvious to me is that after reparations we will probably be getting reparations 2, and 3, and 4, and with a vengeance. This make me think of the Turks. They rained hell over my people for centuries. Right this moment we are good. So, why would I poke the beast like this? Even if I wanted it what was lost back, asking for it is plain stupidity. This also makes me think of how the post-WWII are eroding. A lot of the peace at that time was built by letting bygones be bygones. What we know today as the EU started right then and there with France and Germany deciding that trying to build something better together was better than seeking retaliation. These connections seem to be weakening too. They also seem to have been abused by other forces.

I feel where you're coming from. I do, and I don't want this to come off as argumentative, but you've oversimplified what led to people arguing for reparations (it's not just slavery), and what the argument to get reparations is asking for. They're asking for more than just cash in hand. They're asking for more opportunities for business ventures, community programs and other things. There's been a history of people who have been knocked backwards while hustling to get their own. Tulsa wasn't an isolated incident. Furthermore, you have to look into the history of redlining and other things. A lot of people's wealth in the States comes from homeownership. Black people are still being blocked from equity in homeownership to this day. The argument is usually that redlining is now illegal, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't happen. I won't take all of your time, but it always amazes me when people (not saying you personally, but others who are actually really against Black people getting reparations) have a lot to say about us getting reparations, but they don't say much about when other groups actually got them. I'm not mad at anyone getting what they got, but let's be for real. What is America's greatest crime?
