This video, commendable for its lack of face and voice, shows, along the way, a part of St.Ives that no one ever goes to. I did repeatedly back when I lived there. On the right day, in the right weather, this zone is hard to leave, a place of wonder and excitement....fortunately, few people know this zone so it remains free of the Grockle Army. In order to keep it that way, I must remain silent....but a moment's clear thinking will get you there.

Hard to believe Boscombe was once Bournemouth's more exclusive sister. It was known for its top end Jewellers, and Artisan shops. The Royal Arcade once had doormen at the entrances to keep any Riff Raff out. Its decline over the last 40 years or so has been shocking. It was once Beautiful Clean and safe. Now its more like a hippie Bazaar . Many people with drug and alcohol and mental issues. the odd murder. I guess people call this lively and vibrant. lol.

I visit every few months and sadly they are taking away what ye old St lves was all about ,the greedy rich rip the heart out of the place ,extentions botch and pvc ,its become a builing site .Why dont they just p..s off and leave the poor place alone !

I was there in 2019, we were on Cornwall-Tour, it was a wonderful holiday, I was invited by my daughter, we loved all places and the friendly people. It was a difficult farewell! I know the town has grown a lot since i left but hadn't realised it managed to become a city !!.. Nice tour, though our guide was struggling in the end passing some buildings for the third time. It used to be a nice little market town once, but once the vandals in the town planning dept set to in the late 60's, the heart + soul were ripped out. Nice though to see our old family house , still reasonably intact opposite the station. Worth the effort.

I came to St.Ives from child evacuation in 1945. There were no phones, no tv's, no bikes and next-to-no cars..but the next 10 years were the sort of childhood kids today could only dream about. There were no railings along the Wharf..anywhere; we knew that falling into the harbour would hurt a lot. We could go anywhere we liked from age 6, unaccompanied. I worked on boats in the harbour from age 9, rowing grockles to pleasure boats. Two cinemas, the Scala and the Royal supplied our dreams and excitement Winter in SI then meant deserted streets for months. We got by.........now?.....

In the late 1940's, the fishermen in SI had been fishing since circa 1870-1890....the tales and stories they told of those harsh times, if collated today, would probably be best sellers! They were gods, revered and we followed them around, ears agog. Money?....not necessary!
