Vector was 100 percent inspired from this. Never realized. Aside the wedge shaped cars the vents and taillight grid also inspired the 80s cars some 12 plus years later.

And hey, you got me moving - first thing is to get a 1:18 scale model to start making some rough plans (like I've been doing on the McLaren). I've found one at a store in Austria, but I'm looking to see what's available closer to home.

Grew up in the '60s-'70s; the Carabo was always a favorite look - the first and wedgiest. Now as I approach retirement with a dream workshop, it's the second of the cars I'd like to scratch-build a tribute to - the first being a '69 McLaren M8-B. It could happen - a good home shop today can certainly fab anything that was bleeding edge in a late '60s workshop.

Interesting content, although it was annoying having to keep adjusting the volume between the loud music and your softly spoken narration.

Great video. Bertone and Pininfarina are the two titans of automotive design, very glad that the Italian government had the foresight to keep this collection together. Too bad the Stratos Zero got away before this happened. The list of epic Bertone designs is long and distinguished, but two of my favorites not shown here are the Alfa Romeo B.A.T. Series (three cars actually, the 5, 7, & 9 - which I believe are also in private hands) and Lamborghini Bravo. Also, Miura was actually not the first rear mid-engine production car. That honor goes to the little known Rene Bonnet (later Matra) Djet: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matra_Djet

For sure the early 60s Alfa's are more elegant than the Montreal. Montreal looks more aggressive.

This is basically a good video . I do have issues with your speeded up directions to the Taxi stand, and Aerobus Station. at the airport. I imagine first time visitors to the airport will have a difficult time following, or understanding your directions to the Taxi area, or the Aerobus Station, do to your fast recording speed. A real time normal recording speed would have been an improvement. I did appreciate you actually showing the areas where the Aerobus stops in the city.

From what you showed here, my favourite is probably the Lancia. Wedge-shape was already well-established, but it was a game-breaker still, another stroke of genius of Gandini. Unfortunately, my all-time favourites are not here; 1) Carabo, 2) Marzal and 3) Stratos. No adjectives exist to describe the earthquake that was the Carabo in 1968 (I was 15 at the time). "Carabo" ? Yes a car named after a bug... With the metallic green of a bug, with the winglets of a bug, with the staircase belly of a bug. Gandini had an idea and went all the way till the end with it, never deviating. All-time very top masterpiece of car design, never equaled by anyone (even if Giugiaro sometimes came close; Iguana - Boomerang). Anyway, I do appreciate the visit. Thanks a million!
@narratedtraveladventures23 күн бұрын
Thanks for your interesting comment. Now you made me go and find out where these cars are located nowadays. The Marzal and Stratos Zero seems to be in private ownership, so difficult to visit. The Carabo seems to be in Arese Alfa Romeo Museum though, so I will try to go there and make a video this year. Stay tuned!
@GérardCROIBIER-MUSCAT23 күн бұрын
@@narratedtraveladventures Yes, the Carabo is in the ARM next to the Iguana of Giugiaro. There could be an entire museum of the variations on an Alfa-Romeo 33 theme... Another idea for a video?

Lancia Stratos a favorite also for me. Checking out the WRC Sweden competitions in the mid 70-ties me and friends waited for the Stratos evening arrival to “our” speed-area in the Värmland forests. You could follow the Stratos sound several kilometers before the wedge-shaped car passed in a couple of seconds. Spectators were cheering, waiving flags and applauded before shuffle along back to bonfires, grilled sausages and beers to withstand the often very cold evenings.

I will look into that. Thanks a lot!
