If the flywheel is this warped should it still hold up for a while? How’s the structural integrity of the flywheel?
@AdinPanthersFanHobby2 күн бұрын
Jason Stevens told me that "We’ve seen them pretty bent and they work fine." If they're not too severely warped, wouldn't be too much of a problem. I only replace it when it's severely warped. Integrity seems to be okay. I'll have to double check once I pull it out again. I can send you a more in-depth video if it helps.

Great Video, very useful information. Adin, I have a couple Casablanca Stealth fans from around 2004. Do you have a video or can you show how to remove the flywheel from the shaft. Is it done from the bottom or do you need to remove the shaft with the flywheel attached from the motor housing and bearings? If you have any suggestions or links, it would be greatly appreciated. Both of the fans have a wobble and I assume it's the rubber flywheel. I've tried adjusting the flywheel with the setscrew but that didn't work. Thanks again, always look forward to your videos!

Before the flywheel tool kit was made. Tom Frampton (former co-owner of Casablanca and CEO of Fanimtion) said in the past that service centers would remove the spring clip inside the switch housing first, then use a gear / bearing puller to remove the switch housing. Service centers in the past would have a press to press the switch housing back in. Since Hunter's acquisition of Casablanca in 1996, they no longer use a gear / bearing puller to remove the switch housing from the bottom and a press to put the switch housing back in. They had a special flywheel tool kit only given to Casablanca service centers that had the retaining ring tool that pushes all the barbs on top to hold the shaft in place and to punch the switch housing back in, and the center shaft removal tool is threaded on said retaining ring tool to punch the switch housing out from the top of the motor. When removing the switch housing, we follow with removing the switch housing by removing the fan from the ceiling, then dismantle the downrod, electronics, fishing wires out of the switch housing, removing spring from top of the motor, and punching the shaft out. They also had a top grill block to prevent damaging the top end bell for XLP fans during the process of punching the shaft in as the XLP shafts are knurled on both sides, making it harder to press it in. It's possible to punch XLP shaft into the XLP motor without the top grill block, but you want to be cautious with using gentle taps to punch it in. As for the flywheel, your Stealth fan is a troublesome fan knowing the heavy blade hub would pull stress on the flywheel and the heat of the halogen light will occasionally warp the flywheel. The best solution is to upgrade the flywheel from rubber to aluminum: fanmanlighting.com/shop/new-repair-replacement-parts/casablanca-fan-parts/aluminum-flywheel For a Stealth fan that was manufactured in 2004, you'll have an XLP2000 motor with an XLP shaft with both knurled ends on each side and use 6205zz bearings. You'll need to be very careful with the weight of hammer you use to punch out the XLP shaft. Avoid using a 1lb hammer to punch the shaft out as you'll run the risk of mushrooming the XLP shaft. I learned that the hard way when working on the XLP2000 New Orleans II. Always use a 3-6lb hammer as not only you'll remove the XLP shaft easier, but it won't have the shaft mushroomed inwards. Use a socket bit as a punch tool similar in size to the shaft, be cautious with the socket bits that you use. You don't want to use a socket bit that would get stuck inside or flatten the shaft. You can also use socket bits slightly large then the diameter of the shaft first, then transition using a socket bit similar in size to the shaft once the shaft is flush with the top end bell of the motor (which works better for me). Andrew Wu has a good example of replacing the flywheel and bearings: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ammWiHyBep2Fd5o. Removing the switch housing on an XLP Casablanca: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKm4oHerbryqn5I. The XLPs have 4 threads around the lip on the top end bell of the motor, meaning that you'll have to use an 11/32 hex nut screwdriver, wrench, or a ratchet with an 11/32 socket bit to remove the hex nuts. The downrod is held down with 3 5/16" hex nuts. 2 hammers that I use are strongly recommended to remove the XLP shaft (will also work with K55 shafts that has grooves on each side): -4lb hammer: www.harborfreight.com/4-lb-hardwood-engineers-hammer-69240.html -5lb hammer: www.harborfreight.com/5-lb-neon-orange-dead-blow-hammer-59487.html You can reuse the old spring clip, but it's not recommended as they're meant to be one-use only. The spring clips are 9/16", so you'll need a 9/16" socket bit to punch the spring clip in, just make sure the barbed ends are facing upwards. You can use a flat-head screwdriver to get the spring clip more flush to the motor: www.mscdirect.com/product/details/67156240 Use a 1x6" steel pipe to punch the bearings into the rotor. I recommend using a galvanized steel pipe as the black steel pipes tend to have oil in there. www.homedepot.com/p/STZ-1-in-x-6-in-Galvanized-Steel-Nipple-PDG-N1X6/316930283 As for removing the bearings, you'll need to use a 5/8" socket bit and a 7/16" socket bit that fits a 1/4" ratchet for the screw base in the center of the bearing puller sits flush. This is the bearing puller this is what I use: www.carparts.com/details/Univ/oemtools/jaw_grip_puller/g5225901.html I appreciate that the video is helpful. If you have anymore questions or want to follow-up, you're more than welcome to comment here or email me at [email protected]. Hope this helps!

Pretty sure the outer row on the flywheel has the 4/6 blade capability like the 42" Design House Manhattans had. Never heard of a Kontrust fan that only had the 5/6 blade capability. Try skipping some of the holes on the outer row for the 4/6 blade configuration to see if it helps.

Never really been a big Visual Comfort guy. There have been so many problems with the electronics in them. Including my fan which almost a year later still does not work. We were given the wrong receiver model number and after half a year the wrong one arrived. Then was told it was discontinued but it was the incorrect part that was discontinued. So now I finally have the right one on the way. Horrible electronics but at least some of the designs and service are good. But yeah my local stores are moving away from them due to how many replacement electronics they have been needing to order. It is ridiculous!
