This was a nice comeback but it took some time. The comeback against Tennessee took 30-seconds, down by 6 and won by 3. That was one hell of a comeback.
@TheGourdKing Жыл бұрын
The comeback you're referring to was quite awesome indeed. One minor correction: Louisvlle won by 1. They hit two straight 3s, then TEN hit a layup, then Reece Gaines hit the winning 3 with 1.8 seconds to go, and then TEN failed to score.
@Junkman2008 Жыл бұрын
@@TheGourdKing Yes, that's the one. I don't know why I said three when I remember it was by one. Must have been one of my all-nighters on KZbin! 🙄

@@Junkman2008 If I had to guess (and because I've made this kind mistake before), while being correct about the two most obvious details, which were LOU's three 3s and TEN being up 6, the lost detail was that TEN actually hit a bucket in the midst of it. The math's correct if that detail weren't true and it's the easiest detail to forget since it ultimately proved to be a meaningless basket.

The greatest comeback of all time was in the 2013 national championship game. That was on a neutral court against a better team
@TheGourdKing Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't call that UL's greatest comeback since the deficit came in the 1st half and was erased in mere minutes in the same half. The greatest Louisville comeback is probably the Elite 8 game vs. West Virginia in OT back in 2005, after having trailed by 20.

I would argue the 1988 south Carolina game was the greatest comeback

No doubt this was the best comeback in the Yum! Center. There are a couple of others that should be up for debate for all time however. In Pitino's first year that comeback against Tennessee was amazing for how many points scored in such a short amount of time but the best ever in my opinion was that crazy fight game down at South Carolina. With a minute and a half to go the announcers were already talking about how Louisville's winning streak against South Carolina would be coming to an end and how it was going to affect the Metro conference standings with the Cards only down 10. With 1:06 to play the Cards are down 14 when the chaos begins. Herb Crook and LaBradford Smith ended up getting ejected along with a couple of South Carolina players. LaBradford's three right before everything went to heck was counted as good and after all technical shots were taken from both teams, Louisville was still down 6. After a series of fouls and turnovers in what seemed like a lot more than a minute of playing time the Cards found themselves down 3 with only 4 seconds to go. Pervis grabbed a game saving missed free throw and passed it to Craig Hawley who manages two just get past half-court to nail a three pointer to send it into the first of what would be two overtimes. The Cards finally win it 96 - 88.
