I went and listened to Theme One again. Yes, a few notes in Dave Stewart’s main melody in The Collapso are pretty close to George Martin’s Theme One melody; about as close as Matthew Fisher’s Whiter Shade Of Pale melody is to Bach; i.e. not enough to warrant writing credit or sue for plagiarism. (at least by USA copyright standards)

Yep - definitely Apocalypso, the re-recording from the “Complete” double CD set. (not Collapso from Queues & Cures) Apart from that set, this track is rare, not appearing on any other compilations. No live drums here. Dave Stewart programmed the drums; but he transcribed Pip Pyle’s original performance pretty faithfully.

I was shocked to hear this on the radio recently. It was a community radio station (not commercial), some show dedicated to underground and rare tracks I guess. I thought I was the only peraon who knew it for all these years!

What is the name of this piece of sound ? Angelina, is that it ? They were great in the 60s. Brian Mathew used to play them a lot in ' Sounds of the Sixties '
