To your point about SkySplitter I think what makes it so strong is that it can put people in a bad situation very quickly. Your point about diminishing returns is true but if you go in on someone and box them down to 50% HP with Skysplitter but they only got you down to 75% or 80% you have a lot more wiggle room to continue the fight meanwhile the person at 50% now has to play safer around their smaller HP pool. Sky Splitter is lowkey ruining the game rn for me. Especially offlane I feel like there is no reason not to take SkySplitter first on a majority of the characters in that lane because it gives you so much ability to burst down a full HP hero and put them on the back-foot and by extension put their entire lane on the backfoot. The item allows you to control the tempo of the game basically is what I'm trying to say. Especially on characters like Grux with innate lifesteal.

If you are not behind try to use Ashbringer on Khai. You will lose raw survivability, but the frequency of Q and RMB is insane. You can also spam E and probably get better survivability, than with any other item, but you will be out of mana very fast.
