It's really mature and shows self awareness that you could see how something that served you was outdated and you could move on from it, most people stay stuck with what helped them and cant let go, it's too scary, you're doing great, this is great for others to learn from, keep sharing your ideas!

I found this relatable. I grew up in the U.S., but in an Ugandan and Nigerian family. I first started having identity issues as a kid when I saw all of the other immigrant families speaking in their languages, and I started to feel insecure that my parents only taught me English. It’s especially bad for my Ugandan side because I wasn’t exposed that much to that culture due to where I lived, so I kind of don’t feel 100% authentic identifying with that side because, similar to you, I don’t relate that much to the people. Now that I’ve started university there are virtually no Africans here, so I’ve spent a lot more time with Latinos since I speak fluent Spanish. This also brought up some unresolved identity insecurities, because it feels like being so culturally connected to a region you have no concrete ties to is something NO ONE else can relate to 🙄. Anyways I appreciate you sharing your story, and the advice you give is really valuable. I do believe it is a blessing to have to grapple with your identity, but unfortunately the process can be painful and full of existencial crises. I do feel myself becoming a more mentally strong and understanding person as a result of going through this. Bendiciones desde Chicago ✌️

I can relate to this so much. I used men, alcohol, weed, fake friendships to avoid the part of me I hated. I humiliated myself so much unfortunately I hurt others as well but now I'm much better. It's been 3 long hard years. Having a relationship with God, being sober, spending time with family, giving to others has healed me in ways I couldn't have imagined.

I love what I foiund in this video: "We are in this illusion that makes us believe we can control things in our life. We make up stories to fill those empty spaces, but most of us don't know what we are doing". I think that the most important thing is to know our selfworth and power to find ourserlves.

As you say Sarahi, the most important thing is to connect with ourselves. But we don't do it because we are not used to it, we are not aware of ourselves, so we prefer to connect with the external world. I remember once when I was in my car and suddenly I realized that I hadn't turned on the radio. As if it were an emergency, I quickly looked for the button to turn on the radio in order to end that silence that made me uncomfortable. And at that moment I realized that I was running away from myself. Since then I am more aware of the time I dedicate to myself to think, reflect and meditate on what happens inside me. Thank you for sharing these videos.

Your story resonates with me and thank you for sharing it. This is the first video I have seen with raw emotions about the way alcohol affects someone. I've been sober for 5 years so far and it is much more freeing and far better than what alcohol has ever done for me. I learned to accept myself as I am. Your video will definitely help a lot of people, because of your video someone will probably decide to start their sobriety. ❤
