Beautiful. Doug’s music brought me and my father a lot of joy. When my dad passed last year I listened to so much of his favorite music and West Texas was high on his list. Thank you for sharing your talent and reminding us of how amazing Doug was

This was superb! I remember watching Doug years back on PBS & I told my wife I wanted to buy his CD...couldn't believe it was shipped from his house. I sure do miss him, & his music!

Went to summer camp in Lubbock that included a visit to the IMAX theatre there a few years, and this used to play before the documentary with a light show. I think about it often. Bought Hope the first year just for this song.

Doug Smith’s oldest son here… Awesome cover! Much love. I sure do miss my father. He possessed a gift with music and people alike, that can truly never be replicated. Keep “ticklin’ the ivories” as dad would say.

I was lucky enough to have played with Doug in a band back in about 85 or 86 or so. He was such a great spirit and a funny guy. I had a cassette of his called Mixed Emotions and wish so bad I had a copy or version on CD. I was blown away by his talent and musicianship. RIP my friend.

Very beautiful video Stephen in showing the city, the people, and the ministry over all this summer. Very well done with highlighting the moment s were the people felt blessed by the team teaching music. It's beautiful to see how the people in Africa really push themselves to be a part of what God is doing through music.

Rest in peace my friend from time gone by. I never met Doug but I have some of his first works. He sent them to me in 2000 at a time when he was starting out. He sent me 3 CD's of his work. I was real sick and he told me that the songs would be good for me to listen to during my illness. We communicated for years on the computer and then in email. We lost track but I still listen to my CDs. I was listening to the CD's tonight and said that I hope he is on You Tube so I can look him up. He told me that his composition just came out of his head and I told him to send some to me. He had not titles just played as he felt like it. It's just beautiful music. As I listen to this piece, I know that this is the same Doug. So sad that such a beautiful mind is passed. What a talent!!!

If your were blessed in life to have Ears and a mind & Doug Smith preforming for them, then you know him very well as only too few. His preforming is as deep as an emotional & academic mind allow to acquire. His is a truly personal friendship with is contributions. His work, old soul & being transcends this 3rd rock from the Sun & mortals alike. WE are blessed with out a hand share or hug of appreciation of & for his gifts to us.

I just want to say, you are an amazing piano player. You did an excellent job on doing a cover on this song. Doug Smith is grinning from ear to ear. I had a privilege play with him back when I was about 10 or 11. He was a great friend of mine and a helluva composer and musician. He will be missed. I would love to hear more of your music.
