Agree this is a fundamental skill. One must be careful not equate head position and balance with watching the ball. Two things spring to mind. First the amazing work done by Dr Sherylle Calder and second the "bounce hit" drill (Tim Galway's Inner Game of Tennis)

Just wondering whether or not you think that this drill is directly or indirectly encouraging him to bow his head and take his eyes off the direction the ball is coming at him from?
