I found out about this choral group unexpectedly yesterday morning through a broadcast on KERA Dallas. I am completely blown away with the quality of the performance and it is especially meaningful in that one of my three children had graduated from ECU. My heartfelt thanks for the group and its outstanding contribution to preservation of choral music. Keep up the good work!

I am an ECU alumni, but, am wondering how you you can have a choral without eastern North Carolinas most precious voices, our African-American ladies, whose voices are the true connection to the Angels

A breathtaking performance. For a long time I was looking for a choir that would perform this piece in a way close to perfection, and this is it. Excellent dynamic mastery. Bravo!

This song makes me want to die when I listen to it alone. I feel like everything has been accomplished, even though it has not, and I am flashing briefly through memories before I die. The second time they go through ‘warm summer sun’, and the altos fall behind with a ‘shine kindly here’, and it all echoes like the grief of my friends and family interlocking who would miss me. I think of the legacy I would leave behind and it would be next to nothing because there isn’t anything notable I have accomplished, as I’ve only let the soft animal of my body love what it loves; music, beauty, art; and have not stirred up drama in my life, shy as I am. I feel a deep poetic connection to this song even if it makes me want to die. Thank you for letting me live in my darkest feelings for a good couple of minutes, sometimes that’s all we need to realize the importance of life and the fragility of it.

I’ve listened to this I kid you not ten times today, count it ten (10) times, and have sobbed hysterically every single damn time. I can’t stop thinking about my Howell high school choir group that sang this last year. We had such a good connection. Half of them were seniors who had to leave us behind as they moved on to the great unknown flowering of adult life. This year we have had a pretty good connection with the new set of people but I miss this beauty and connection our group had last year. : ( I pray whoever reads this does not feel this soul crushing sadness this song brings to me because I can’t take it. I can’t stop sobbing. Bravo. Bravo.

I remember being at ECU in my senior year of high school. They performed this piece. When DeMarcus went really high, the other kids in that auditorium went nuts. Those kids were so loud that you almost couldn't hear the Chamber Singers.

Lovely performance of this wonderful piece. I have corresponded with Pawel and he is absolutely charming. I just LOVE the dynamic control pull-back at the top of the scale. I would enjoy being conducted by Andrew - you really know where you are.

Thanks, Andrew Crane, for not watering this down or doing another performance with no nuances. I think this is one of the best performances I've heard of this wonderful piece. The choir amazed me and the solos were so well done. Choral music is doing well at East Carolina U!

I heard this first as an instrumental arrangement, and my feeling was that it was so uplifting, that it's musical message was that all is well and all will be well with the world. As I hear the lyrics, and read about the story behind this piece, I am amazed. To let go of someone so dear, to grieve that loss, and to have this piece express love in such a way that it lifts the listeners heart! Amazing. So beautiful. And such a performance. Thank you!
