Thank you for doing this one. This song has a special place in my heart. I always think of my grandmother, Mamma Holder (Nanny's Mom) every time I hear it. I know I've probably told you before how she used to sing this one. This one brought tears to me listeningto it tonight. Happy, sweet tears though. ❤❤❤

What are some of the feelings from that epic guitar solo? Nostaligia? Loss? Epic Memories?
@riffsfromthecouchАй бұрын
That's a very good question. I'm not sure I've heard David Gilmore ever speak to that. Could be any or all of those things. When I listen to the solo & context with lyrics I feel like maybe regret & anger over a life lived apathetically. Once he realizes that his time is almost over, it's too late to take corrective action. 🤷♂️ I've know folks who lived a life without purpose or direction, just going through the motions of existence until they realize they're almost at the end & they've wasted the opportunity they had. Difficult to say for sure.

What are you using to get the tones? Anything besides the Katana?
@riffsfromthecouchАй бұрын
Thanks for watching!! Tones are straight Katana Mk II 50w. I plan to make the patches available publically very soon.
@adamkwasnazaАй бұрын
@@riffsfromthecouchthanks, I have a Gen 3 katana but I struggle with getting good distortion tones from it so curious about your settings
@riffsfromthecouchАй бұрын
@adamkwasnaza I most frequently use the clean amp channel. I'll start with eq to get general tonal qualities of the song I'm teaching then add boost & effects. Marshall Guv' (in the amps booster choices) usually for heavier drive. Usually a light analog delay & light reverb. If I can find the information, I'll see what the band or guitarist actually used on the recording & copy that set up as closley as I can within the Katana.
@riffsfromthecouchАй бұрын
Also, I'll usually monkey with the eq, noise suppression, cab resonance & contour at the very end to make it match what I'm hearing on the recording as close as possible.
@adamkwasnazaАй бұрын
@@riffsfromthecouch thank you, I will try that approach. Still learning the amp, there is so much to it so it can be overwhelming. Enjoying your channel.

Is there a difference between phosphor bronze and 80/20 bronze Elixr strings?
@riffsfromthecouch2 ай бұрын
The 80/20 strings have a brighter overall tone. The phospher bronze are warmer overall, but still have some sparkle to them.
