Why would you have straight Men on a gay dating show. What If He would have picked a straight man. Would the straight man have sex with a gay man.

Andra made many situations all about herself, if you watch every episode of Boy Meets Boy. That's why the MADtv parody is so fun to see

I remember trying to video tape this show behind my parents back. I absolutely loved it, I was rooting for Wes the entire time. He was definitely my personal crush as well. DOES ANYONE KNOW THE ENDING SONG? It's so beautiful, I've been trying to find it so bad. It's been since 2003 that I've heard this song, and for someone reason it stayed with me this whole time! This show holds special place in my heart, for it was witness to my own personal journey of finding myself. So if someone has the name of the song, I'd truly appreciate it!

After having watched it again years later, I'm still for Team Wes. I love Wes. But realistically outta all the gay guys, I feel like James would be most compatible with in my order: Brian Jason Darren Wes Rob Chris Matt Mark

The fact that they let straight men invade a show marketed towards gay men and had the straight men lie and manipulate this gay man in order to profit off of it is utterly disgusting. I hate this show with a fiery rage
@lukas41123 жыл бұрын
I’m sorry but this show is so cruel. Imagine going through life falling for straight guys then going on a tv show where you thought you didn’t have to worry about that problem, only to find out you’ve been lied to and you might once again have your heart broken. It’s sick and twisted and I can’t believe they let this show air. Embarrassing

True but the flip side is that it should straight guys what it feels like to have to lie about who you are.

00:41, they edited in "Wes and Brian." She had said, "I can't wait to get an opportunity to spend some time with Franklin. I just want him to make him think about a couple of things." Not "THEM." The producers didn't want to give away the reveal (it was so obvious) so they kept having them say things like, "It could be any of them."

Fuck Franklin trying to act like he had some moral ground to stand on. You are an opportunistic liar! I'm so glad James called him out for infiltrating gay spaces. Also, if Franklin was only in it to "challenge stereotypes" he would have revealed he was straight right before the finale to not take the cash prize. He was in it for the money. I also HATE how he was like "waaaah people thought i was gay bc of stereotypes!" big fucking deal. Also he has no idea what it's like to be in the closet as a gay person - his little VOLUNTARY stint on this show is nothing like that. I knew he was str8 from the beginning lol
@lees24045 жыл бұрын
why doesnt he just kiss them and touch them more to see how they react????? i dont get it (did the producers like forbid him from kissing anyone????)

faith6833 is right to point out that they made this show bc they couldn't just have a dating show for a gay man. It's glaringly obvious to me that they added the straight guys and the straight best friend to appeal to straight audiences. This was the 2000s. They weren't going to make a show about gay people without a hook for straight people. Also, just because they made the opposite show doesn't go against faith6833's point. Straight ppl have TONS of dating shows and representation in reality tv. Gay ppl had next to nothing back then and still don't have much. And dating is harder for gay ppl than it is for pretty str8 girls like the one in Playing it Straight. Also they TOLD that girl THE FIRST EPISODE what was going on. The fact they still haven't told this guy so far into the show is really, REALLY unethical. They didn't do that to her. Also I would say both shows are crueler to gay people anyway. In this show, they are completely deceiving a really sweet, well-meaning gay man who hasn't had a lot of relationship experience and has no idea what is really going on. And in Playing it Straight (more so in the US version, but also in the UK version) the gay men suffered incredibly under the stress. They expressed feeling relief when they were eliminated due to the stress of essentially going "back in the closet" and feeling a lot of guilt for deceiving the girl. In both versions, at least one contestant left early bc of it. They also had to deal with homophobia from the str8 male contestants, constant offensive stereotyping, and worry about how they were representing gay people as a whole. Remember that in those days our representation was really poor and this was probably one of very few opportunities they could represent the community. Notice none of the str8 guys so far have left or confessed early. Only one has expressed any stress or guilt. Certainly, the female contestants in Playing it Straight dealt with being deceived, but again, because they are straight they have a lot more options when it comes to dating and a lot of dating shows to choose from. Not so for gay people. I would classify this show and Playing it Straight under the same genre of "gaysploitation." Don't get me wrong - I enjoy these shows (that's why I've been binging them so much). And i actually prefer Playing It Straight (the UK version) because it at least doesn't take itself too seriously and revels in its own campness (and I actually think it's worse seeing straight men infiltrating a gay male space like this and playacting being gay). But I can't stand people acting as if these shows are "equally cruel" to "all sexualities" bc that's bs. Our society is not equal between straight and gay people, and was especially glaring back then.

I don't understand why everyone thinks Dan is straight. Like why would a straight guy say he has an open relationship with a boyfriend back in New York? I mean sure that will take the suspicion off him being straight but it just makes it more likely that he'll be eliminated for already being in a relationship. Also having an "open relationship back in new york" is too gay for a str8 dude to make up. This was back in the 2000s b4 str8 ppl were doing open relationships a shit ton like they are now.
