This is great and I may try it but my only concern is if you don't get the fore and aft setting on the top plate right your rollers are gonna wobble a bit which could cause faster cracking in the future. I have a vg-540 that's considered legacy at this point and in my efforts to try to keep it alive I've been thinking about getting a couple outer roller bodies cnc'ed out of aluminum cuz its criminal how these things go in 6-9 months of regular use.
@chris_jamo
@chris_jamo Ай бұрын
The metal plate on the top doesn't grip the square bar, its only a guide to stop the pinch rollers coming out so this isn't an issue. I thought about getting some CNC'd too but in 20 years of owning Roland machines this has only happened on one, and on newer machines the pinch rollers are now different and more durable.

@@chris_jamo I tried this today and I had a hard time putting in the new assembly that I ordered from Roland. The part# that they provided me was 6000005882 for the left assembly for VS-640. However, when i tried to put it on, the metal piece was not clearing the bar completely. I am not sure if I got the correct part. It was a customer service lady that gave me the part#. From hearing from other people, I should have asked somebody from Tech Support! I have to call Roland back.

@@EJSJ805 Strange one. Did you undo the two screws enough so the metal part was high enough to clear the bar? I’m pretty sure the pinch rollers are standard throughout the VS range

@@chris_jamo Yes, I did. I am having a hard time press it down to properly get seated. It is hitting the plastic part on the end. Update... I found a way to get it done. I used electrical tape and pulled it from the back and it worked. Thanks again for the great video! I saved $$$ thanks to you.

Instead of removing the valve and lighting the bottle (mental) just fill it with water first

Just finished mine got bubbles now really powerful goes over top on full speed and can be done for around £29 with a £17 suction hose which comes with connections from b and q and a £12 lazy spa spare blower off eBay, dimmer switch and a tiny bit of playin. And ya don’t have to take it to bits if you already built it. managed to join and fit 2x3m 22mm copper pipe in a tight coil round a Ron seal fence paint tin cast with cement and it firsts perfect in the top of those gas bottles, I cut the bottle in half ya can empty and service it easier heating around 3c per hour in an ibc 3/4 full with just wood not fan assisted but may do that to increase it speed in winter. Loses 1-2 degrees in 24 hours used 100 mm base kingsman and 50 mm sides and flask lid. I use a lazy spa pump on the circuit too the filter helps and pumps keeps the water a safe low temp coming out the pipe. I love it!

Nice cheap DIY build! Next time fill the cylinder with water to displace any gas that's left at atmospheric pressure, admittedly it's more fun to just light it... A taller and slightly larger diameter flue would create more draw increasing the heat output.
