I know your pain. I complained so much to my rental office that I got my neighbors moved out. Told them I pay my rent, and it was not to have to live under a playground! The noise lasted for 8 hours each day, from the time school was out to bedtime. I thought it was a WWE match up there every day!

My son's apartment sounds like this and louder, he is a shift worker so needs to sleep in the daytime, there are now three toddlers upstairs. It's Toronto or he'd just move. Apartments there are hella scarce to come by.

I'm looking for a house to rent due to my apartment having thin walls and a crappy neighbor, but I also live in an area where it's extremely hard to find anything at all. Very frustrating.

I'm dealing with a family with 2 little boys n it sounds exactly the same. I've been here 4 yrs n never had this problem. Heck, a Hispanic family had like 11 people up there before this Mormon family moved in. Those 11 people never made any noise. I complained, had friends n family write letters about it n I had recordings. These pos people only got a phone call asking them to quiet down. So this family blew that up ,scheduled a meeting. Wanted to c my evidence. Than lied n said they take extreme measures to keep quiet. I'm sry, letting ur kids run n jump above someone is the opposite of measures. Get off ur fat ass n take those kids outside n ask them to stop running. As I do with my child. So the landlord believed thrm. Now a yr later I'm still dealing with this. What about the covenant of quiet enjoyment. I hate them so much. Sometimes if their being loud in the middle of the night, I'll find scary monster n demon sounds online . Put the speaker up to the ceiling n play it loudly n scratch on the ceiling. I call them spawns of saten. So I figured it woukd confort them back to sleep.lol

I moved in a week ago to a new apt and my upstairs neighbor has two or three kids (boys) and I knocked on her door to tell her about the noise. She said she can tell her kids to quiet down but their kids and that’s the best she could do. People with kids should not be allowed to live upstairs. I’m ready to break my lease already.

Like you weren't a kid before. Decibel levels are acceptable. It's not like a jack hammer is being operated above you. Loosen up. Don't be so uptight.
@Solitude199010 жыл бұрын
Yes, I was a kid once. But my mom taught me that there was an "inside" noise and an "outside" noise. "Kids will be kids" is a cop out for lazy parents. If I ever stomped around like this inside the house (on the second floor), my mom would kill me. Actually, if I ran and stomped around like this anywhere inside the house she'd kill me O_O. If you have kids and you can't afford a "home" then you have to go the extra mile to ensure the kid isn't being bothersome to the neighbor that lives below you.
@rocketmaniscool10 жыл бұрын
I don't have kids. But I like kids. Adults who can't afford separate homes of their own needs to understand and adjust to the world around them. I bet you have a terrible mother. She would "kill" you as you said in your comment. No wonder. Pity.
@Solitude199010 жыл бұрын
rocketmaniscool She was a great, loving mother ^-^! "She would kill me" is just a saying, she never touched a hair on my head. What I meant is that I would get in trouble. Also, with that mentality please refrain from having kids. You'll make a terrible parent.

If you own a condo, HOA governing documents should provide protection against flooring alterations that reduce STC and IIC ratings to adjoining units AND protect you against excessive noise or nuisance. Lease agreements should also contain a provision to protect your quiet enjoyment rights. Whether you lease or own, you should have protection but just need to know how to enforce without excessive expense.
@amandadonofrio124211 жыл бұрын
It sounds like the neighbors above have improperly installed hard surface floors, which should be removed and replaced with appropriate floor coverings. Sounds like a Uniform Building Code and City Ordinance violation. You have a right for quiet enjoyment in your home so maybe I can provide some guidance on how to enforce your rights. I am building a web site to provide a road map to help people like us. This is a quality of life issue for many people. More information to follow...

My video BONDAGE MODEL IN A HAUNTED APARTMENT deals with the haunted apartment. Despite the building having seen better days and there were occasional mice and roach problems we had to deal with, my apartment, which wasn't even one of the building's better ones, had lovely art déco features, it was huge and bright, and the price was really reasonable. I liked it there, but others were really bothered by "Sophie Brisman," the ghost, & "The Man in the Hat."

Ten Ocean Parkway. It opened in 1928 as a luxury building with a 24-hour concierge and a rooftop garden. Brooklyn, right on Prospect Park. We had a famous bootlegger-organized crime guy there, kept his wife and kids there in an apartment full of antiques and artwork -- he got rubbed out in a big news story of the day. Many famous people have lived on Ocean Parkway: Mary Tyler Moore, Barbra Streisand ...
