Excellent analysis. The best discussion is from 1:30 minutes to the end, where they discuss Canadian university QB Elgersma. There is a bias in the CFL coaching/scouting ranks which results in many good Canadian university players not getting recognized nor given a legitimate opportunity to be developed and play in the CFL. We definitely need more Canadian coaches/scouts in the CFL and less influence from south of the border.

Great show!! The CFL cap going up to over 6 million is the best news I've heard since Doug Flutie. Great news. Doesn't TV agreement with TSN expire soon. I would love to see it go over 10 million. They will never compete with the NFL. But hopefully compete for their practice roster players.

Good show guys. Still a concern that the Bombers still have not got a good backup and successor for Collarus. Zach has one year left in his contract and will probably retire . Strevler or Terry Wilson are not good enough to take the Bombers to a Grey Cup if (when) Zach gets injured. We saw what happened in the 2024 Grey Cup when Zach got injured - total disaster. And Zach has had costly injuries the last two seasons. One would hope that Walters and O'Shea want to groom a successor in 2025 so they can seamlessly keep strong at that position. Will catch you guys next time.

Have to disagree with Justin Drunk. Putting the Vanier in the same stadium as the Grey Cup is a terrible idea. Cities bid on the Vanier and if you say that it "has to be" in the same city as the Grey Cup then U-Sports will get a cheap bid compared to other cities. U-Sports also doesn't like coming out west as much. After the Vanier in Vancouver they stayed out east. Finally Regina is going to break that trend but it'll be over a decade absence.

good to see passion for CFL from a cdn who played in nfl. My only issue is re the dislike of punting, he is coming from an nfl point of view where punt returns are negligible whereas in canada they are an exciting feature and stars are punt returners

Great interview! You guys hit all the big points that the Cfl are not properly addressing. This is why the league is forgotten especially in the GTA. It sucks for the players and the fans. I hope we can do better

Luke overall knows his stuff and is clearly a football buff. I hope more ppl pay close attention to him. CFL needs to find ways to incorporate this man as long as it's to our benefit.

The CFL is far far away from other leagues not close. CFL draft two rounds only on TV come on its a joke. Should put it on KZbin or something. Hopefully they have the combine on KZbin. Good points 👍👍👍👏👏👏

He said lots of interesting things, but I think the real challenge for the CFL is almost intangible, it's not marketing or money, but about creating a sense of urgency and consequence. As a season ticket holder, I love the game, it's the best place to watch high-level football with out breaking the bank. But the league doesn't inspire that irrational, die-hard devotion you see in NFL where even the Cleveland Brown fans can genuinely believe their team has a shot. That's the missing piece-how do you make every game feel like it really matters?

I despise his idea of less punts. As a Blue Bomber fan the one player we sorely missed was Janarion Grant. His punt returns are electric and gave us such an advantage. One of the most popular players of all times was Henry Gizmo WIlliams. He was incredible returning kicks. Most popular player in the league for years. Incredibly short sighted take. What the NFL is doing with their special teams is ridiculous.

This guy is a total douche. He knows nothing about Canadian Football . He acts like his crap doesnt srink, yet he had less than 2000 career receiving yards. Chade Claypool had a more accomplished career,and his careervonly lasted 4 years

The explosion of fantasy football in the last decade. Supercharged the eyes on the NFL. Lots watch for their own team, not even following a specific team. Add in the gambling to the mix. You can see how ratings and TV revenue has gone thru the roof.

The gambling part is signing a deal with the Devil. Look at how insane is the Kansas City Chiefs mess is. Its driving away real fans by the millions now.

12:27 Couldn't agree more in terms of the caliber of the players and quality of play on the field. However, in my estimation, the, CFL, would be hestant to expand back to U. S. markets as the CFL season starts about a week after the, UFL, Championship game and would be oversaturating the U.S. market.
@theodoreking84688 күн бұрын
@@edwardpulz8830 CFL is more likely to merge with the UFL rather than expand. However if the UFL fails St Louis would still be a good market in America. If they can find an owner willing to write the cheques (and that's a big if) then I wouldn't object to them trying in the northern part of America.

Luke knows NFL. TSN is lucky to have him. He deserves a shot a ESPN but who knows what the politics down there will allow. And maybe a step forward for him would be co-hosting FanDuel with Sanchez - the fireworks would be exciting. Love his honesty in analytics and not pulling any punches. Thanks Justin for having him as a guest. A real treat.

22:00 why is there no discussion of his soft skills, player feedback, assistant coaching hires, gm experience and ability to win through adversity.. nobody expected the backup qb to get it done. I don’t know if he’s an nfl coach or not but teams ought to be doing there due diligence and interviewing him to see what his vision is .. the raiders literally put AP in a HC role with no experience and how now swung the pendulum into an over the hill Pete 😅 while guys like no loyalty Coen and hyped up Ben Johnson are crowned as saviours 😂

If Ryan plans to leave he most likely would want to bring up Arbuckle to the table for he did state that he has the ability to coach an wants him to coach for the argonauts. Seems like he would want to. Leave the team in good hands before heading across the border. Successful or not he will always havea plave in the CFL for Ryan Dwindedie is coach proven.
