John Cougar is a "Dickhead" Guaranteed he caused all the trouble! He's so insecure as a musician he's been faking it his whole Career! Allen probably spotted the phoniness called Him out! Just like Ronnie would have! 💪🏻 Mellencamp is a Typical Arrogant "AssHole" Always has been, Always will be!

“The English Guy”, Mick Ronson, was a beast, a legend, as he was David Bowie’s guitarist on his earliest albums, playing on Starman, Moonage Daydream, Space Oddity, Changes, Jean Genie, etc. It makes no sense for there to have been any hard feelings between Collins, Mellencamp and Ronson. They were all great artists in their own right!!

I've always had interest and respect for the Rossington-Collins Band. But that interest and respect is even greater for the Allen Collins Band. Will always wonder what they could have been had they continued. RIP to Allen, Billy and Leon.

I wasn't there, so I can't say I know this, or that, for a fact. But reading some of these comments leads me to believe that their authors have done very little, if any, playing/ writing themselves. My cell phone is full of rough ideas, and a few turned into good songs Thanks 904 Sounds, I appreciated and enjoyed it much! Subscribed too, please keep them coming! Always loved Allen Collins and his awesome playing!!

Not fair to call them a “cover” band. Ricky Medlocke was drummer for the band until they got a record deal-Medlocke left to form his own band, Blackfoot. Ed King was the member who created the riff that is the opening of Sweet Home Alabama. Johnny Van Zant is Ronnie’s brother-as you know, Ronnie died in the crash along with guitarist Steve Gaines and backup singer Cassie Gaines. After surviving band members healed and were ready to play again, they also recruited King to replace Gaines. Medlocke. replaced Collin’s following his car crash-Collin’s was permanently crippled in the crash, and was no longer able to play…

You are confusing the band in the video with the current day “Lynyrd Skynyrd”. The Rossington Collin’s band (the ones in the video) was a legitimate vestige of the real Lynyrd Skynyrd. What you are referring to is that after 2009, the only original member of the band in Lynyrd Skynyrd was Gary Rossington. It’s sad but LS ceased to exist when they lost Billy.

This is the ONLY legitimate way to handle the vocals for this song since the death of Ronnie Van Zant. If Ronnie can not sing it, it should NOT be sung.

You can tell the band was starting to really get their bearings and songs like this were the harbinger of things to come. While not played that often (or at all in live shows today), it's among one of my favorites by the band.

Whether you like him or not, you can't dispute that Mr. Medlocke was an important member of the band during the early formative years.

As amazing as this is, you can see the hurt in him and the approval of Ronnie that he was looking for. It was really tough watching this one.

I always thought it was odd that Gene talks about how he didn’t like drinking, drugging, and partying but yet he took a job with the Lynyrd Skynyrd band. He was traveling with them, hanging around them and living amongst them. Kind of an odd place to be For someone that doesn’t like drinking drugs and partying. It may just have been the best job available for making a living. but, it would have to be difficult for someone straight as an arrow to spend that much time around this group of guys.
