I have just made and tested five turn helical antenna. Went 4.5km away with it and still had good picture. Could have go further but did not have enough power to get back. I will make video how I made it. Now need for some fancy 3d printers guys just get the measurements right and thats it. I used copper wire, plastic syringe, one sided pcb, coax wire and rp sma connector. I will try to get the video out soon. Do not spend more then you have to. This antenna cost me maybe 5 dollars but will use the expenditure to make more of these antennas. So this is 5 dollars for more then just one :)

Zwcky101 thank you, no need for that. Plus you would only have expenditure to make it and send it to Slovakia. So how did your antenna perform ?

WOULD BE GOOD TO WRITE ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH THIS ANTENNA . DID YOU DO LONG RANGE FLIGHT OR JUST CLOSE RANGE ? ID LIKE TO SEE SOME OUTCOME MORE THEN JUST TO SEE HOW ITS DONE.

In many other coanda flight models here on YT, I have noticed the modeler uses a propeller to move the air. Is it you opinion that the majority of the propulsive effect is caused by the coanda "airfoil" design or by the nature of the propeller in pulling itself into the air just as a helicopter, insomuch as the helicopter design does not "warp" the airflow down along the sides to provide lift, but the lifting effect of the blades?

Cool looks some what like mine. Are the holes on the shape holding pieces in a helical cut or just straight?
@DaRoach5882
@DaRoach5882 9 жыл бұрын
They are cut at the helical angle to help keep the form. Well at least the printed version. I have made one of the frames out of FG and only drilled them out.

Are you still sharing your design on Thingiverse or privately? I have been all over RCGroups, thingiverse and web hoping your shared it already I remember it from Dennis Baldwin's videos that you said you will share it. Pretty Please :)

I watched a video on Dennis Baldwin's channel about one of your quadcopter designs. Your design is really amazing. I'm trying to design a gopro gimbal of my own. Could you list the components you used to build yours?

Hi Zwcky, is there any reason you wouldn't consider a MINI MWC Flight Control Board and DSM2 Compatible Receiver ACC/GYRO/BARO/MAG? I have bought one and have the orange dsm2 tx module. Would the MINI MWC setup the same as the nano wii? Hope to finish my quad soon. Thanks. James

i keep wondering what the cause of the shake that i saw in your video? mine like that too when using naza fc and cheap goodluckbuy gimbal but not too shaky as you have. but i suspect the naza fc
@Zwcky101
@Zwcky101 10 жыл бұрын
Mine did it because of the fact that i am using very soft vibration dampeners and i need to tweak the PID settings more. I have bought stiffer dampeners which has helped. Next I'm going to spend some time fine tuning the PID settings.

That was pretty exciting. Especially at the 1:10 mark. The quad seems to fly well, how did it handle?

I'm still getting use to the throttle being so touchy. With it having 3.4 to one thrust ti weight ratio it's a little harder to judge how much to correct the altitude. Other than that it flies wonderfully.

So yes this video is stableized using the KZbin stabilize function. The other on is raw. I would say everything about your setup is important. Make sure you props are well balanced motor bearings are good have viberation stableizers to mount your camera and make sure the gains on your quad aren't set too high.

Higher Kv isn't always your friend when flying 3d. The reason for that is higher head speed with less torque, less torque means smaller prop size. When flying 3d, you go from airspeed being what your hinge surfaces work off of, to using prop wash instead to control the plane, which lower Kv works best, allowing you to run a larger prop and less head speed to allow for more control during slower flight which is essential for hardcore 3d flight!
