I was station at Gutleut Kaserne from late 1975 until it was turned over to the German Government towards to end of 1976. My room was on the 3rd floor facing Gutleut Strasse in the section that still remains. Last year I was able to go back to see Gutleut. I have great memories of the time I spent there. @@frankfurtonfoottours2361I do have many memories of my time in West Germany. My wife was with me so she finally got to see the place I had talked about so many times and the area where I spent some of the best times of my life. It was happy to see what remains and saddened to know what was demolished. Gutleut is like a part of me, my youth. Thank you.

@@frankfurtonfoottours2361 I went there often for plane spotting and ever since it’s always not crowded and not busy, but it is considered one of the busiest airport in Europe. I wonder how come it is always not crowded if its one of the busiest. Or maybe its because the design is so efficient and well structured. Terminal 2 is also one of the airport that the arrival area is not separate from departing passengers

Thank you for sharing this video 👍 I was stationed at Drake Kaserne from 88-90. There was a German Pub just outside of the Kaserne where an older lady, Kitty, was a waitress. I was stationed at Drake Kaserne from September 1969 to August 1972. Geez! Amazing how things have changed since that time. I lived in the barracks there. Yelp it was home for 3 years. I work in the motor pool which was on the back side of the kaserne. 3rd Divsion Hq was there. I recall a small bowling alley, a small px, a movie theater and a enlisted club. I rember the 143rd Signal Battaion was on Edwards. There was a snackbar t here and a refueling station for military vehicles. I recall the housing on Edwards was huge. There was a dispensery on Edwards for sickcall. Anyway, you video brought back many memories for me. I remember the Tic Tac Club across from Drake and I and lots of other GI's hanged out there back in the day.
