“Finland is not about anything, it just is.” So accurate, with all the Nordic countries. :p

It's very sad if "your country is not about something". There are many countries which "are about something". This is not a standalone case.

Wow.. that made me feel so normal and grateful to hear that it's ok and normal to have lost the idea or sequence of words, so depleting to lose the inspiration moment. At one time I took a chalk board to the bath with me. When you sleep and on waking, or when are most relaxed is when the ideas arrive.

Incredible how someone from Europe voluntarily can move to the US. 🙈🙈 Okay, temporarily for a job it’s okay, but living there? No way! 👋🏻👋🏻 And btw people in the US are not more positive than others. the American dream died a long time ago, just when the Americans went back to stone-age. they are vulgar, not educated, loud and badly disrespectful (at least more than 50% of those I see here in Asia).

That's just tourists. The Asian tourists I saw in Malaysia were very loud and stupid to the turtles that were trying to lay eggs in peace. I went to the States and most of the people there were amazing, best people in the world. I was surprised.

Finns were raised on Hollywood movie hence this attitude to everything American. In Russia America is no longer considered a dream land. There’s a feeling I. Russia that it can achieve as much as the us have achieved and even more. When I moved from Russia to Finland I was surprised to find so many pro American attitudes. It was liken I returned to the past , the 90s in Russia when everyone wore caps with letters USA on them and companies had English names. All I wanna say is that it’s just a matter of propaganda. America in neither good nor bad. I’d recommend the Finns to stick to their culture, as much as I have the right to do so For me as a Russian America is just a troubled continent filled with narcotics, mass murders and criminals, especially the southern part of it; the us proper being torn by poverty and crimes as well , but with a considerable of rich and wealthy people and also good education - for the rich. The racism is predominant and even here in Finland people tend to divide between black and white. This is so surprising for me as a Russian . In that respect Finland looks alike the US. Fun fact, when I landed a job here in Finland , I was asked at the interview whether or not I might go to the US in future. They fears I’d run away from them to the US. Why _the_fuck would I do that? It’s thousand miles away and with a difference mentality, why on earth would they ask me about it ? So ridiculous.
@Ser_Lefty3 жыл бұрын
Depending on the company and the position you were applying to, most likely they ask that because they have an associate company in USA or are looking to expand in that market. They want at least some people who are willing to travel and live there for a few months or years as a representative of the company. So you have it all backwards there, the reason they ask that is because they know many of the applicants are not willing to do that. To reply to rest of your comment I feel like our attitude towards USA is far more two-fold. On one hand we do borrow a lot from american media, marketing and business tactics. The stuff that doesn't really have a place in Finnish culture to begin with. On the other hand we often look down upon and laugh at the american society. The classic american is often viewed as loud, stupid, selfish and arrogant. This causes in a phenomenon where Finnish companies with English names are seen as international while American brands are just seen as a bit shit. You can notice this in how many Finnish brands market them selves on being manufactured locally from local ingredients. There's also been a huge shift towards marketing with a distinctively Finnish branding within the past few years, as companies have noticed they don't have to look american to be internationally successful. Places like Hollywood and Broadway are often romanticized in many cultures and we separate them from the rest of US. I think even Ismo mentioned in an interview how it wasn't until he moved there, that he was reminded that Hollywood too is filled with homeless people and piss, just like the rest of the urban USA.
