I was there too, went down on a slow bus from Teesside drinking cider at 13 ! My hero Bernt Persson was brilliant, just missing out. Great memories

Thanks rob. Think this was the beginning of the end for English rider’s unfortunately I know Kenny All our top men was either retired or nearing the end of there racing days. Even ole who was a marvellous rider and captain. All countries have there cycles just such a shame in uk the tracks etc. is a wonderful sport especially the supporters

Wow this is an awesome video I actually hung out with Boogaloo Bobby Schwartz at Action Park East a.k.a A.P.E in Green, New York my brother-in-law had one of the only Speedway tracks in the area there was only 2 and he owned 1 of them it was pretty cool.

By the way, Phil Collins has been one of my favourite riders since I saw an iconic picture in the Speedway Star in ‘76 of him putting on his helmet cover for Ellesmere Port as he prepared for his first professional ride at 16 years old. I was 10 and had a bike of my own. I was absolutely in awe of that photo, probably taken by Mike Patrick, I guess.
