The ticking comes from you idling the car. 5.7 are not made to idle. It’s called the hemi tick look it up. You can put 87 in your car and it won’t hurt. The only difference in the gas is if you want a few more horse power.

Talking from experience, had my 17’ rt for 2 years now and I only put the best of the best in my car. Do these things and your car will thank you, runs healthier in every way. - Get 93 nitro+ (only from Shell, anywhere else makes no difference so 89 is fine at Wawa, etc) - Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0w-20 (or 5w-20 for summer time) - SRT oil filter - Replace drain plug (for oil pan) with a new one with a magnetic tip.

5.7 is a solid option, I bought my 2018 5.7L Daytona off the lot. A cam and longtubes will get you 392/6.4L power. If that's all you want to do to it, any supercharger will net you more power for the same amount as a cam kit, longtubes, labor and tuning assuming you're not doing the work yourself.
