A road worthy guitar. I love the old Fender steels. I knew Don Helms and Herb Remington and seen Jerry Byrd at Scottys ISGC in St Louis. Don told me he never used bar slants for the Hank Senior stuff. He was a Prince of a guy and let me sit behind his steel.at a show in Illinois.

@@picker63028 amazing! I never got a chance to meet any of the old timers, just secondhand stories by way of the people they taught.

These takes among many other recordings from that club they had a residency at in the 1960s. apparently there are many other recordings from those live gigs that exist, but have not been restored or digitized. My understanding is that the individual with the recordsings is trying to work something out with the Western Swing Society out in California to host them online somewhere. Hopefully we can all hear those at some point in time in the future!

Love this tune. I'm noticing you're not doing the rake thing Santo did. I think it's dependent on the tuning Santo used. What tuning are you using?
@eddieslide7 ай бұрын
I just couldn’t get it to sound good and wanted to go ahead and make the video. It’s a backwards rake with the thumb pick. I think it’s the same tuning he used. It’s the one they played on Sleepwalk anyways. I think of it as E6 with an E on top and E on bottom. It comes from the 6 string C#m tuning. And so with 8-strings it’s a C#m7 tuning (or E6)
