I went to X.O.'s inspection for fighting. Believe me when i tell you my tail was in between my legs. The X.O. got his just desert. Dimissed and never made it to Captain's Mast, thank God. My penalty was to instruct/inspire with our on board stress management class. Who knew?

being wild is one thing, but going into dangerous areas without proper protection is more serious than putting your tie on your head. i hope this command staff was able to help this man value his own safety enough to wear proper protective gear, because at that point he will be ready to care about his coworkers’ safety.

There is a proper way to stand up for yourself, even in the military. This is sn example of how not to do it.

To have a CO mast in the open with crew attending means this is special. Normally a mast is held in the wardrobe with only those involved in the incident or testifying present. For the CO to decide to do it this way is 1. Making sure there are no rumors about this guy, everyone will see and know the truth. 2. Showing this guy it is 120 against 1 - he has no place in this crew. Notice how quick he stopped all that bravado he started with. Making him show up in the uniform he trashed is classic.

As a civilian, I had heard of a Captain’s Mast, but never seen one. This was very interesting and I salute the Captain and the other crew members. I think the sentence was more than just. That Captain demonstrated very clearly that he was firm and fair and he held his temper when that Sailor was so disrespectful!

with all these charges he should have just been court martialed. he got lucky he only got a captain's mast. or in the bad old days would have just be keel hauled.
