Is the nut width of the Markbass really only 36mm? I find the 38mm of the Jazz Bass too narrow for me so 36mm is out of the question.
@bassprofessorworldwideАй бұрын
Yes, indeed it is 36 mm. The width of the nut of the Markbass follows the space of a Fender Jazz Bass. In fact, for a lot of bass players this is the most comfortable neck. If you are looking for a wider width, you should look for a Preciscion Bass. Good luck!

There is a great video on KZbin showing Greg Lake utilizing the MIDI features during rehearsal. I actually purchased a Wal Midi bass mkII with a beautiful schedua top and it came with the rack and cable as well. I unfortunately sold it shortly after because I was more into Hard Rock/Metal at time and only needed my non MIDI Wal mkII but hugely regret it now as I believe a complete Wal Midi set with the cables and rack unit go for insane money. Also my musical palette has diversified outside of Metal and the things I could of created with that bass would be limitless.
@bassprofessorworldwide6 ай бұрын
Hello. Yes, there is a nice vid showing Greg Lake playing his Wal MIDI Bass, but due to may be Copyright reasons we decided not show it in this video. You are also right, a Wal bass equiped with the MIDI-System would be a bass without any limitations. Anyway, I have heard from other Wal players, that the original system has its proplems. In these days there are systems and effects on the market that works a lot better. Be lucky that you own a Wal bass. The prices are really tough. Keep on bassing! 😀

@@bassprofessorworldwide Thank you for the nice reply and yes I am grateful I bought a Wal directly from Wal over 10 years ago made to my spec by Paul Herman, I could never afford it now. One question for you, are these basses your personal basses or do you guys have an actual Bass Museum with all these amazing instruments?
@bassprofessorworldwide6 ай бұрын
@@SuckerFreeGear You're welcome! Actually the basses are mostly private stock and belong to the writers of the BASS PROFESSOR team. From time to time, we borrow nice instruments. On the other hand, no, the Bass Museum is only digital. I guess it would be too expensive to run a special building for the basses. We are glad that Paul Herman carries on the torch of Wal basses, and you are right, be happy that you own one! They are very inspiring basses

@@bassprofessorworldwide Once again thank you for the response and I am subscribing to your channel now. Also, I know we are not as well produced as other channels but Mark Cameron and myself are doing our own unique guitar amps and mods, Mark has been doing them since the early 90's so please check out and sub to our channel when you have a chance to. Our goal was to get an amp recorded what it sounded like in a room instead of using multiple mics and mixing boards so players can actually get a feel of what our amps sound like in person. We will be putting out some guitar pedals soon along with possibly... bass stuff.

Gibson is never gonna get it through their thick heads that their bass bridges are the worst and the pickups still sound like muddy mush. That bass looks awesome, unfortunately it stops there. Maybe some day Gibson will get it together.
@bassprofessorworldwide7 ай бұрын
I very much agree. Gibson always had problems with their basses, they are too much focused on the guitars. The new EB Bass were better than a lot basses Gibson made in the past. I have my doubt if they will get it together one day. It will need a driving force like Leo Fender. Or someone else 😀

appreciate the video! Good demonstration of the tonal options. I have three Wals myself and have many videos on KZbin with them as well, but the JG basses sound different than the Mk1 basses. I guess they sound the same as the Pro IIE basses? I especially like the bridge pickup tone. That's the Wal sound for me. I don't hear much difference in your video between the single coil and humbucking sound though. Do you start with single coil at 3:30 and then humbucking at 3:43?

Me too, I love my 1981 MC-924DS. It was my first bass guitar (after using octave pedals with my electric guitar before). I learned about flat-wound strings at the music shop, and replaced the round-wounds. The replacement turned me into a flat-wounds fan. This bass also was my first instrument with active circuitry. I loved emulating brass basses using the Active setting. ("Flat-wound" and "round-wound" strings are mere preferences, in part depending on the style played. I have promised myself to keep round-wounds on my penultimate bass, so I eventually bought a similar one and a set of flat-wounds...) ;-)

@@bassprofessorworldwide thank you for your reply: My 85 is long gone as it was far too heavy for me in the end. I currently play an Enfield Lionheart which was part of a tie-in between Sims and Wal. Very much in the same league as a Wal but much lighter and more ergonomic (in my opinion).

Nun bin ich kein Slapper, aber gehört nicht auch die Position des Instruments zum Slapstil? So hält z.B.
@bassprofessorworldwide2 жыл бұрын
Keep on bassing! ;-))
