Very helpful, I have one very much like that and it has not started in 2 years imagine that. I had problems before and bought a new carb form sears for $90. With that carb it was running rich and pulsing, but it ran. Now I feel so I could rebuild the original carb for bet operation. Where can we get rebuild kits and what else should I worry about? Try to find that ASPEN 4 gas that sounds great. We do not have so much snow anymore so I think a case of that is worth. worst case just put in your car right? Thanks Again Great video well done camera man and very informative. Dennis in Virginia

Unfortunately that large back plate with the throttle control goes all the way around to the right where my electric start is and I don’t know how to get it off. This has become a complete clusterfuck of a job and it might lead me to drink again I’m that pissed. These snowblowers are complete dogshit and whoever the lead engineer was needs to be slapped in the face.

@JohnsonsSmallEnginesКүн бұрын
Most machines that have the heated grips will show On/Off sometimes tucked up where you cannot see it very well but if you have a I and a O? I is on and O is off.

Thanks Brad. Was able to remove the carburetor on my blower thanks to your guidance. Looks like the O ring that sits on top of the fuel reservoir is missing. Anything I can use in a pinch to get me up an running right away.
@JohnsonsSmallEnginesКүн бұрын
If you are talking about the carburetor bowl gasket? I never needed to actually try to improvise. I would never let a machine go out that way and I have multiple bad carburetors to pick from in a pinch. The bowl gasket is a tough one being most are rubber. you may be able to use a silicone that would need to be gas proof but if you need to go and get the sealer. I would recommend going to your local small engine repair shop and see if they may have a used one from another carburetor that is the same as yours. Take your carburetor with you so they can match it up.
@davidbertinatoКүн бұрын
@@JohnsonsSmallEnginesThanks Brad. Actually found the O ring sitting in the wheel well of the left wheel. Must have fallen off without me noticing. It feels a little stiff and dry, but I’ll go with it until I get to a small engine repair shop. Now if I can only get the engine to stop surging.
@JohnsonsSmallEngines23 сағат бұрын
The surging normally is a blockage in the carburetor. Why did you remove the carburetor? I have a video on how to rebuild it if you need it.

one of my friends puts his carb jets and tubes in GooGone, which gets the sticky garbage out. Thoughts? I still would follow up with carb cleaner but not a bad idea.
@JohnsonsSmallEngines3 күн бұрын
I personally never used that product and never will. I normally use a ultrasonic cleaner. I have been showing my videos without using my ultrasonic cleaner (I do not think the normal person would have one and should not need to purchase one) showing how most carburetors can be cleaned without using much, just what you may have on hand.

@@JohnsonsSmallEngines so true, being 63 and learning how to do this, I seem to be fixing my neighbor's stuff more and more. So far two lawnmowers, 1 snow blower, and soon a generator that revs up and down but runs. But maybe he won't trust me with it and take it to a real shop but I can tell you it is his carb...he only runs it ever few years. Thank you for being a blessing and helping us all.
@JohnsonsSmallEngines2 күн бұрын
Sounds like you’re a busy person! Tell your neighbor with the surging generator he can just run it with the choke in the half position or place the choke where the engine will not surge. Yes, you are correct. Your neighbor needs a rebuild or replace the carburetor. You should not run the generator plugged into the house while it surges. Not good for anything plugged into it as the electric will also surge unless the generator is an inverter. Just a little heads up:) Take care!

@@JohnsonsSmallEngines good to know! He was running his refrigerator and sump pumps, and I forget what else. Now that you say it, it seems so obvious! If your talking about the drain push spring loaded gasket? The part number is Tecumseh 27554. I would also get the bowl gasket Part# Tecumseh 30356. You should be able to go to your local lawn and garden repair center and pick up (1) each. I would call to make sure they have them in stock before heading over. After market gaskets are not good.

Nice video, very well presented will follow up on those heat shrink soldering connectors, as my soldering is crap. I have a craftsman mower, that is shorting on wires within the engine harness, not sure how or what to look for from there. I turn key to run and fuse blows, I disconnect engine harness plug and fuse stays on and service hours display is on too. Mower was going after a long layoff, but then just stopped with blades engaged, haven't been able to start since, battery replaced. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.
@JohnsonsSmallEngines5 күн бұрын
Is it still blowing fuses when the engine harness is connected? If yes, check the electronic fuel shut off wiring. The hot wire may be grounding out. If you have an electric PTO clutch? also check the wiring. If you have a manual PTO. Check to make sure the handle is all the way off. There is a safety switch that must be depressed before the engine will start.
