Are these new over there? I've had a couple sets for years, one specific for wheel nuts. Takes off lock nuts like nothing.

How precisely do you have to lathe the bolt head before you can use this tool? Does it still work if I end up with a tapered head?
@iVTECInside
@iVTECInside 11 күн бұрын
You don't have to do anything to the head. The demo here is just to show that it will grab a round head. In reality you'd probably be using it on a rounded off nut, it doesn't have to be anywhere near perfect.

Can you demonstrate with a bolt that’s tight?
@iVTECInside
@iVTECInside 11 күн бұрын
They work just fine for tight bolts, just have to hammer them on proper. The spiral cuts in and is tapered as well. The biggest pain is getting the bolt out of the socket afterwards. The one he shows here is nice cause of the threaded "pusher".

Mac tools website says this impact is rated at 695 foot pounds of torque. Nitrocat 1250 is rated at 1300 so the Mac tools impact is not even close to the strongest impact. And Nitrocat probably costs half the price. I used my Nitrocat 1250 in a heavy maintenance environment working power plant maintenance. It was the strongest 1/2 inch impact on the job site. Ran circles around Ingersol Rand, Mac tools and Snap on impacts.

All I wanted to know was why Mac sold to Stnaley and they skimmed over the details in that part. Must have been shady.

I've been wrenching with a completely stuffed MAC tool box for 7 years now. After many years of brutal daily use, I've only broken one 1/2" to 3/8" adapter, and one 12mm ratcheting wrench that I've used a billion times finally spun free. Other than that, nothing I've bought from MAC has ever failed me. I can't say the same thing about my Matco tools at all, they spend more time being repaired than sitting in my box. I will be buying MAC/DeWalt tools exclusively for as long as I'm fixing things with wheels on them

I have this impact. When you feed it more CFM of air it blows all of them out of the water. Even my newer Milwaukee high torque electric. Gun really likes 3/8 full flow air fittings. Worked in a shop where everyone had different impacts, it blew them all out of the water. Matco 3/8 MT2138, Mac 1/2 AWP 050, and Cornwell 3/4 CAT3125. The Matco and Cornwell are made by Aircat, but Aircat's 3/8 and 3/4 don't seem to do it. I think it has to do with CFM, no one reads the manuals. 1/4 inch air fittings are not enough for these impacts. Even the little 3/8 gun benefitted in a huge way with 3/8 full flow air coupler. It did make it harder to get in tight spots, but a hose whip quickly alleviated that problem.
