Hi Jim, my friend just picked up a very similar clock from goodwill. They said it’s a Romba Hohenzollern Black Forest clock. It says “Annon 1640” on it. I think I understand how it works and have replaced the thread so the flags hit the pins but do I need to tie it like this one here? Also can you advise me on the weights for each side. It came with the top weights but nothing for the cord. Thank you SO much.

Are you in England? I have a 4 tune wall cuckoo whose music is now too fast as is cuckoo call. On one tune it was sticking and so I put on a heavier weight. Clapper for gong too loud, so soft leather might sort that. Would you be able to fix all these? Thanks Gaius

I liked your video on bushing repair, you could make a video explaining how you center the hole where the bushing is placed. I would like to learn how to do it but the videos I have seen are always taken from a distance and it is not appreciated. At work I don't understand the English language but if I see how you do it I will be able to follow your advice. Greetings
@TheBlackForestClockShop5 ай бұрын
Yes centering is important especially when the original hole is worn in one direction. Always a good idea to file the opposite side of the hole equal to the worn side so the cutter stays centered. When using a bushing machine it is less likely the bit will cut off center if that makes sense. In this video I was drilling from the side with less wear placing the pointer bit slowly up and down into the hole and re positioning the plate until I saw no side to side deflection of the pointer (centering) bit, then lock the plate at that point to drill. I hope this information is helpful to you.

Yes this is true the table version Beha 510 is very similar to the 361, both can be found in several variations from other clock makers as well. They were probably amongst the most popular style at that time and therefore seen more often today.

@TheBlackForestClockShop8 ай бұрын
I no longer have this clock but I believe around 2.5 to 3 lbs. the counter weight (small rock) maybe a few ounces. If you are putting a clock together, just find a stone that will keep the clock working and remember the counter weight will subtract its weight from the larger stone.

Hi James, love your videos on Antique Cuckoo Clock Wooden Movement Repair. I've seen a "FF" mark on a wood plate movement and wondering if you would know what this stands for. I've restored our family Cuckoo which got me hooked. After watching your video I"m planing to use them as my guide to rebuild a wood plate movement, thanks for inspiring me, I'm hoping that understanding what the FF mark stands for will allow me further insight to these amazing old time pieces - thanks in advance, you make a great tutorial.
