Wow, amazing work you have done. You truly show the beauty of locomotives that run on tracks. This left me speechless, such a well made video. Please hit me up and I would love to talk about trains with you and only trains ;) Love from southern VA

Awful sharp curve to put 3 axle trucks over. Industry tracks notoriously terrible. Neat unit. TLB. Road master, MRL Division Engineer...CMStP&P.

The beginning of the end of an era. The Auto Train has been almost exclusively run by GE locomotives since its inception in 1971 ( First with U36Bs when ran by the ATC, then P30CHs when Amtrak took over, and finally the Auto Train was the first train to run with Genesis locomotives in 1993). This will be the first time since 1992 that the train is primarily run by another form of motive power besides GE.

Nice! I wonder if they ever use these new locomotives on the Auto Train, they'll have its own sign or stickers to the train itself for some units. But, that's just my opinion.

The point of this run was to test the new locomotives (ALC-42s) on the Auto Train... they will eventually phase out the Genesis P40s and P42s that currently power the train normally.

New locomotives won't solve the uncomfortable bed problem nor the horn problem, there are 10,000 crossings between Lorton and Sanford and the cars are not soundproof, bring yer earplugs. Lastly the airline type food on Amtrak, ugk? Bring back Pullman and the sleeping car porters, they could cook a real meal.

Still waiting for Amtrak to put more info out on that long distance RFP. Auto Train is part of that RFP so we still got ways to go until new rolling stock comes in.

*Generous Eclectic!* There was at least one with *Soot.* Trains are supposed to have soot, at least a little, as that gives a romantic “just like the old steamy trains” vibe.
