Google translate is not really that truly reliable with Japanese translations. From experience by Japanese natives and experts online from what they've said, it gets a lot of the sentences and words all incorrect, and what words they don't say vs how they actually speak and what they do say. For example: if you were to talk to someone who is Japanese but only use Google translate to help to get them to understand what you're saying, the first thing you should never say or use in Japanese is the word "anata" which translates to "you". Truth be told, they take that as a rather offensive thing to say. I know it's strange, but it's true. It's always best to be thoughtful with what it is you might say and how you approach someone. The same applies when you say goodbye to someone and you end up saying "sayonara" to them, as saying that word would lead them to thinking you're saying "goodbye forever" to them and won't see them again. It's only for when the person is on their last breath, or when a Japanese school teacher of kindergarteners bids his or her children goodbye. One of the more appropriate Japanese words to say "goodbye" to someone would be more like "jāne", meaning "see ya'" in English, so that they know you'll see them again soon. Another thing worth noting is that if you were to be in a conversation with anyone from Japan, you should never use or say "huh" towards them, as they also believe it to be rude as well; that's if you didn't hear the other person correctly and want them to repeat what they said again. Even if it's just a normal habit to be saying. Instead the best way to get them to understand you better, and repeat what they said again, is being smart as a Canadian by saying "eh" to them. It's more appropriate and friendlier towards them so that they know you didn't catch what they said or weren't paying full attention. Wish I had more to share, but that's about as much as I can give to you for now. In short, Google translate, or any other translator program outside of Google's tech, is unreliable for most of the Japanese translations. Some of the words, it does get correct. But the rest, such as long sentences, is not at all the best to rely on for how it butchers a lot of the words that you cannot trust without knowing the full context behind it. My only recommendation would be to search up some videos on KZbin by those who know better and can explain much easier. Mainly those who are from Japan that can also speak English too. I hope this helps!

@@HiroTheJapaneseTrainThe models in the show are bespoke, but the toys are super accurate. The big giveaway is that the show model of Soppy doesn't have the panel line on her side.
@captaincool33292 ай бұрын
Thanks to this, someone can probably work out the basis of all the planes: Soppy is probably short for Sopwith (Sopwith floatplane based on the Camel?), Phos- Voss (pilot), Tros- Albatross, Martin- Martin MB-2? I have no clue for Ryan though.

In my headcanon, there are some vehicles that aren’t sentient (I always assumed this was the case to explain away why there are so many random trucks and other miscellaneous vehicles that clearly don’t have faces) but I think all the important vehicles [a.k.a. the ones revolving around the story] should be alive (with some exceptions, of course. Such as the jet engine.) Edit: I also have this rule in place to give a little bit of wiggle room for the rules of this universe as otherwise what qualifies as a “vehicle” can be a bit loose. A car and a train can have a phase why can’t a bicycle or a scooter? Or what about toy trains, they can move around, move cargo, and depending on how you use them can even serve practical purposes. Where is the line drawn between an object and vehicle? So to avoid going down the rabbit hole forever, I personally look at the Thomas universe as “some vehicles are alive and some aren’t.” Tiger moth is one of these characters who, although he could just be a normal plane, I like to think he does have a personality

Tigermoth doesn't have a face and neither does Henrietta I don't know why. my opinion about faces on vehicles is they should only have faces if they directly interact with the story. Tigermoth and Henrietta directly interact with the story but to be honest rolling stock like tankers or flatbeds don't. i believe every plank truck and goods van should have a face but that wasn't the case in the classic series
